Does such a place exist in the alps?

Fancy a long weekend, say 3 nights, in a cosy, alpine style hotel or chalet with my husband. Somewhere with a heated outdoor pool and or hot tub where you can view mountains. Walking distance from cafes and restaurants.
We'd need somewhere fairly close to an airport where you get cheap flights from uk. And also it mustn't be luxury prices. Budget up to £1000 to include flights and accommodation.
Grateful for any recommendations!

Here for the replies, as this is my dream, too

You've painted a glorious picture there OP. I want to go on a holiday like that too. Smile

Not quite The Alps and fails the cheap flights from the UK test as its hours from any airport but my fantasy mountain spa hotel stay is the Canfranc Estacion in the Spanish Pyrenees. I'm determined to get there in my lifetime.

I would search bavaria ( southern Germany )

Does it have to be outdoor pool?
If not then would recommend checking out La Clusaz small alpine town about 1-1.5 hour transfer time from Geneva where easyjet fly to and can usually pick up a cheap flight. Some lovely very alpine hotels, not too expensive a town.

If can stretch to a little further on the transfer time then Andorra also a good one with heated outdoor pools (you usually pay for the week for spa facilities but it includes breakfast and dinner). Fly into Barcelona and can get a transfer from there. The fancier end is Soldeu but there are quite a few towns and hotel options.

It does , but doubtful within your budget. You need to be relatively high altitude to ensure snow and views at village level. There may be accommodation on the mountain like in Zermatt but more isolated from the village and £££. Adding in a short transfer restricts it further. You might be best looking towards Norway and Finland but Seefeld in Austria is a short distance from Innsbruck for flights, reasonably snowsure and has a public indoor/outdoor pool.

I agree about the budget. I just checked the prices at De Spinne. 😲 Suffice to say we went out of season. Either that or DH sold a kidney and didn't tell me.

Plenty of places in Austria would fit the bill, but you might need to stretch the budget a little or go in mid-January or mid-March. Also, hotels prefer guests who book direct and so might offer a better price than the rate shown on the major booking platforms. Two examples from personal experience:

In Saalbach there is the ValSaa Alpinresort, which is an up-market all-inclusive hotel in the centre of the village with amazing "wellness" facilities, including an indoor-outdoor pool.

Alternatively, the Tauern Spa at Kaprun/Zell am See is almost best described as a fantastic spa with a hotel attached, and with fantastic views of the Kitzsteinhorn mountain. Zell am See also has a beautiful lake.

For either you would fly to Salzburg (BA, easyjet, Ryanair and others) and then either take the train or #260 bus to Zell am See (and then a taxi on to the hotel) or take a private taxi from the airport. Transfer time is about 90 minutes and the journey itself is a trip through some stunning scenery.

A chalet may work out cheaper if you don’t mind having dinner with randoms. You won’t find a 2 person chalet.

Have a look at Ski Weekends and Flexi Ski - you can filter by number of nights and hot tub/ pool.
