Best hotel near Terminal 5 Heathrow

Gagagardener · 28/10/2025 15:03

On Wed 5 Nov, I shall arrive at Heathrow late afternoon/early evening to fly from Terminal 5 at 7.40 am on Thurs 6 Nov. Any advice on the best hotel to book to stay in that night? I can't find one that is connected to T5.

I shall not have much luggage - a backpack and a small cabin bag. (If I were younger, I'd sit up all night - but I can't do that now.)

The Sofitel hotel is connected to T5 via a walkway from arrivals. It’s quiet but it’s not cheap because of its very location.

Are you travelling to Heathrow on public transport or driving? When I’ve travelled to Heathrow by train I’ve found the travelodge at Hounslow to be surprisingly convenient. A few minutes walk to the tube station, then a couple of stops to the terminal. Definitely more convenient than than many of the “airport” hotels, which need a hoppa bus to and from the terminal

notimagain · 28/10/2025 15:09

There's a Sofitel attached to T5, but it doesn't tend to be cheap.

Probably a bit cheaper is the T5 Thistle Hotel on Bath Road which gets good reviews these days.

There are others close at hand,.I'm sure.other recommendations will pop up in a minute.

There are also some Premier Inns on the Bath Road which operate shuttle bus services to t3 and t5. The bus to t5 (which incurs a charge) takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

I’ve used the ibis for terminal 3 but for terminal 5 Sofitel is better if you can afford it. Hilton at terminal 3 is a short hop on the train

We liked Premier Inn Terminal 5 on Bath Road. Typical Premier Inn room.
3 minutes walk to the bus stop at Colnbrook. Number 7 bus takes 4 minutes to Terminal 5 bus stop,
Buses leave at 4.49, 5.29, 6.01.

I've not had a lot of luck with the shuttle buses - don't run to timetable, full, or just don't turn up. I don't need that stress when I have a plan to catch!

I quite like the Thistle - clean and comfortable enough and the pods are a convenient link to Terminal 5. The pod costs about £8.50.

If the OP does opt for the Prem Inn it's maybe worth them being aware there are two (last time I looked) on Bath Road so it's really important to book the T5 one in Longford,

Greetingscard · 28/10/2025 16:06

Premier inn at T4 was good - walk along the covered walkway to T4 , then free transfer on ELizabeth line to T5. 3 other hotels eg holiday inn also connected by the same walkway

HelloCharming · 28/10/2025 16:09

Sofitel is the easiest as then you aren't depending on the shuttle buses or the train between the terminals - particularly for an early flight. Be aware early in the morning the train between terminals isn't very regular - we nearly missed a flight because of that and ended up having to run through the tunnels....

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 28/10/2025 16:13

The Sofitel is nice, expensive, but genuinely a decent hotel. I would also look at the hotels where you can use the pods- don't rely on the shuttle buses. I was on one once and the several.people behind me in the queue didn't get on as it was full at 6am. It then sailed past the other hotels it was meant to seve.

Ladyymuck · 28/10/2025 22:32

It’s always Sofitel we stay at when flying to/from T5. The restaurants are pretty ok too

DIEPFLAP · 28/10/2025 22:37

Sofitel for us too. Keep the costs down by getting an M&S buffet from the M&S food hall in T5 arrivals hall which is opposite the entrance to the walkway to the Sofitel and eat it in your room. No transfers to cope with the next day.

JollyHostess101 · 28/10/2025 23:22

Premier Inn t5 as someone said above super quick bus into then terminal! Or splurge on the Sofitel that’s attached and walkable!

Whitehart nearby Premier Inn is great for food but the Pheasant just off the Bath Road (main hotel drag) does amazing food and massive portions!!

Many thanks for all your help. I started booking Sofitel yesterday evening but don't think I completed. (Had a houseful of guests for sad family event. They"ve all gone now - but I am en route to deliver a bought - shock, horror - birthday cake for a child's do tmw after said child's mum had a first-ever baking fail today. Trying to 'carry on as normal' is not always the right answer.)

I am very grateful to everyone for sharing their exoeriences, knowkedge and advice.

Agree that Sofitel is both the best and the most expensive. But it is the only one you can walk to the terminal from. Messing about on busses for a 7:40 departure will not be fun.

If you stay at the Sofitel you have all the landside eateries available to you for dinner when you arrive.

There is also the Thistle hotel which has pods to/from the terminal. They are chargeable though and you would have to take it both ways.

Gagagardener · 30/10/2025 06:38

I've booked the Sofitel. £160 for a short night and no breakfast seems a lot, but I can probably stay in bed till gone 5 am. So that's all right. Thank you all.

And you can walk to the aircraft. I think that if you had spent the following morning at the bus stop at silly o’clock you would have regretted it.

In the past, whilst flying with BA, we have been able to do a bag drop the night before. Couple this with checking in on-line and you can have a leisurely morning pre-flight. Worth a look perhaps.

Sofitel is a good choice. Very comfortable, quiet and linked to the terminal.

CagneyNYPD1 · 30/10/2025 14:31

We did a one night stay at the Sofitel before our first post-Covid holiday. As an extra treat to help calm my nerves. It was absolutely lovely and worth every penny.

MissMoneyFairy · 30/10/2025 14:59

I'd try the thistle, £80 that night and they run a shuttle pod to t5 if you can cancel sofitel.
