Considering going this summer with DH and 2 DCs - have heard that it is nice and great for food. Any views?

Well we went there once as part of a greater trip

It was a bit dismal I thought but it was raining

Food meant to be great but we didn't hang around

It has lots of tall buildings, reminded me a bit of brighton!

Went when I was 10. Drove through an ETA siege. Stayed on a vile camp site with a weird family next to us and left after 4 nights instead of planned 10. Was also raining I think. But I did have churros for the first time. Have no other memories except falling over in playground and still having scar on my knee.

I think it is supposed to be nice though

Yep - great place (also part of larger trip). But we went BC - CD is right.. fantastic food and drink. Not sure how good for children - though I do remember it had a decent beach. It rained when we went too FWIW!

I've been there although not with kids.

The beach is lovely and sandy and AFAIK quite safe for swimming. Lots of fantastic bars and restaurants. The weather can be very changeable though and it is quite rainy compared to other bits of Spain! But I'd definitely go again if/when I have the chance.

Hi, I live abotu an hour away and go every couple of months. We love it, aparently it is the most desirable place in Spain for Spainards to live! Beach is gorgeous and sheltered, food is excellent and shopping fab. We love it! There is a good aquarium and old fashioned fun fair for children too.

I used to live near the French border and we could drive over to San Sebastien in no time. I loved it there, especially the old part of the city with the littel tapas bars and the old cathedral. You can drive over to France and visit Biarritz and Bayonne or drive up into the Pyrenee mountains, beaches are great, watching surfers was one of my hobbies back then! Sigh, brings back memories...!
