Netherlands Eurocamp or similar....so overwhelmed!

We fancied the adventure of an overnight ferry to Rotterdam with our 4 and 10 year old in the summer holidays next year. Liked the idea of basing ourselves at a holiday park, with enough to keep the kids entertained, but also near to some interesting places for some trips. I've spent the evening researching and feel so overwhelmed....the reviews on eurocamp in particular seem very mixed.

Was originally thinking Durinell or De Schatt, but reviews on the former seemed to be about how packed it gets (queuing for entry to the pool), and the latter had awful reviews about dirty accommodation.

Any recommendations to narrow the search greatly appreciated. TIA

We loved Duinrell! We went in Aug 2024 and the queues were fine. We did a day trip to Amsterdam and went to the nearby beach. If you do stay at Duinrell, make sure you do the magic show and the indoor flumes!

Yep, another vote for Duinrell. We went this August and the longest queue was 10 mins. Pool is amazing and again queues moved quickly. The booking system for the pool is complicated and frustrating but nothing that can’t be overcome

Centerparcs? We’ve been to De Kempervennen and De Eemhof. Fraction of the price of UK centerparcs

We loved Hof Van Saksen, it's a bit further a drive but we all really enjoyed it. We also spent a couple of nights in Rotterdam before Hof Van Saksen, and then Efteling on the way back before catching the ferry home. I haven't been to Duinrell but have heard good things about it.

Beekse Bergen is amazing! Good for a day trip to Efteling theme park too.

We've also stayed at De Twee Bruggen with Eurocamp and would very happily go back. Plenty to do onsite and a lovely well kept site too.

Worth having a look at Little Clogs Holidays, they are happy to advise you based on your needs.

Another vote for Duinrell. 4 and 10 year old is perfect for this park, loads to do, big rides, little rides, forest nearby, cycling to the beach (all avail on hire) supermarket on site (albeit expensive) and there is such a range of accommodation (both from Eurocamp and from the main website). Kids often make friends with other kids in the main play park which is great. The tiki bad (pool with all of the flumes etc) is open at certain times to you, but main outdoor pool all of the time. I would think carefully how you get there. There are, of course, pros of having the car there re: ferry route and taking your own stuff. We used to fly into Schiphol, (an hour) then get the train to Leiden (loads of trains, takes about 30 mins) then just get a taxi to the gates (about 15-20 mins), but we were door to door in an afternoon. The little town of Waasanaar next to the site is nice enough with supermarket etc. They are very strict about check in and check out times (take passport photos for your pass, you can get them there, but I think you had to pay), and if you were camping (which you can actually do, with your own tent etc. but I imagine you won't be given the Eurocamp discussion) some of the camp areas can get noisy with the young Dutch people having a good time. I have been 3 times with 4 young children, and never disappointed. One other thing, if you like a TV in the evening, check out your accom has one. We are not bothered, but if it is a thing, it's a thing. xx

Thank you, I will take a look at these...can i ask whether some activities were included in the price, or extra?

Thanks for the replies all, I will take another look at Duinrell...it's pricey though. There were some cheaper eurocamps but they had far fewer facilities .

We did Landal Landgoed t'loo with 4 & 9 year old, it's a smaller park but we loved it - nice chilled atmosphere and great to have the outdoor lake beach area, enough to keep them occupied (and not loads that you had to paid extra for like centre parks!) And there's an amazing Dinosaur park near by if your kids are into that. The pool is fairly small though, with only one flume - but my oldest isn't so into flumes so didn't matter to us.

As someone said above though, Little Clogs holidays blog is great - really helped us narrow down what we wanted.

Duinrell is great. And De kempervennen. Also have a look at Roompot.com and Landal.com. We had a great week at the Water Village next to main Roompot resort in Zeeland.

Duinrell is fabulous. We’ve been several times and never had a problem with queues. We have generally gone the past week of our summer holidays though, as the Dutch kids go back before British ones, so it tends to be quieter then. Also did October half term one year and that was fine, if a bit chilly!

amilliondreamsofsleep · 28/10/2025 10:54

@Richtea67unlimited swimming pool, play areas were included in the price. Some other free activities - for example at DK there’s an indoor play area which is a sort of adventure course which is free. I’ve never been to a UK CP, but from what I read the paid for activities are comparatively cheaper too.

Dutch school holidays for 2025/ 2026. Sorry it's not very clear but I can't seem to upload screenshots on the app so I had to photograph a second phone. Confused
