I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I think that on the Hull to Rotterdam ferry you can board 2 hours before sailing.

The bar should be open at the same time.

I know it's different though so I may have given you completely duff info.

Can you not ring them and ask?

AdamAnt · 06/06/2008 08:03

Thanks squonkywonky

Yes, I'll phone later (they're not open yet).

cant you find out online? from their web site

AdamAnt · 06/06/2008 08:20

No I've checked there. And there's no info on the tickets either

They obviously only cater for the well-seasoned traveller

I've done this route many times AdamAnt. What makes you think there's a free mini-bar.

AdamAnt · 09/06/2008 17:16

Hi nametaken - sorry, just got back today! There's a free mini-bar if you go in the Captain's Cabin or Captain's Suite. It's great - two mini bottles of champagne, white wine and red wine, two cans of beer, soft drinks, nibbles....yum!

Oh, and for any future archive searchers, you can check in an hour and a half before departure on the way to Hook of Holland, and at least an hour and half before departure on the way back.

Is that with Stena? I'd never heard of such luxury!

Cammelia · 09/06/2008 17:21

You get that mini-bar in the Commodore Class cabins on Brittany Ferries to France and Spain

AdamAnt · 09/06/2008 17:21

Yes - Stena. It really is fabby. We've done it twice now, and will hopefully do it again next year.

Oooh maybe we'll try France/Spain instead next year!

Tell me all! What are the cabins like, are the beds just bunks?

Not that I'd book a holiday on the strength of a free bar

AdamAnt · 09/06/2008 17:33

The Captain's Cabin is the size of a smallish hotel room. I think they usually have two single beds pushed together to make a double. (I assume you can ask to have them as twin beds). You have a shower room and windows facing frontwards and a TV and tea & coffee. And a bowl of fruit which we totally ignored.

The Captain's Suite is basically the same, but the room is bigger with a little seating area and table.

It cost about £280 for a return journey (for both of us), which I thought was v reasonable, given that our small hotel room (with very expensive mini-bar!) in Amsterdam cost £180 per night.
