Taghazout, Morocco or Fuerteventura over New Year

Which is likely to be warmer/have better weather?

DH and I are looking for a chill week with some walking/yoga/beach/healthy food. I’ve found a really nice villa in Lajares Fuerteventura which looks relaxing. I also have read about Taghazout and we can fly directly to Agadir from our city. I’ve been to Morocco a few times before - Marrakech and Essaoria.
Any insight would be great, thanks.🙏

I stayed just along from Taghazout a few years ago but I wouldn't recommend it. The beach was OK but packed with lots of vendors and offers of camel and horse rides. The cafes and resturants in the town were generally a bit dirty, some interesting little shops but nothing much to hold your interest. However, there were lots of surfers so maybe it was a good place for that.

Went to Fuerteventura 2 years ago over new year and it was lovely weather, early to mid 20s every day, kids were happy in the ( heated ) pool. Would recommend!

That’s good to know. I am actually not a massive fan of Morocco. That has confirmed my view! Thanks 🤩

Thanks! Can I ask whereabouts you were?

I've been to Taghazout twice and I loved it but if you want more of a traditional winter sun holiday then the canaries can't be beaten. They are further south too so probably a bit warmer. If you aren't a fan of Morocco then going there seems a bit of a waste!

We stayed in caleta de fuste, went to corralejo and walked up the volcano on day trips. Friends of ours were staying further down south, they hired a car and loved exploring all the beaches, roads pretty quiet and nice to drive on they said

I kind of loved and hated it in equal measures. Hate the way they treat animals and the attitude to women. Like the food and the architecture. Found Essaoira beautiful but a bit cold and grey.

We’ve been to El Cotillo in Fuerteventura many times, just up the road from Lajares. Lajares is a lovely little town with a handful of good restaurants, a good sized supermarket, a few nice shops. and a Saturday market. It’s a really good place to relax. It’s too far to walk to a beach, but car hire isn’t too expensive and it’s a really easy place to drive. We’ve been in January and it was really warm during the day, but very chilly at night. The island is known for being very windy, but it isn’t usually a problem.

I love Morocco, but haven’t been to Taghazout. We’ve been to Sidi Kaouki and Moulay Bouzerktoun along the coast and loved both areas, but I don’t think the weather woukd be nearly as good at the time of year you're planning.
