‘Honeymoon’ recommendations with a toddler

Caveat that I understand it isn’t really a honeymoon if taking the children!

We are getting married next year and looking for a special holiday destination to go for our honeymoon. We have travelled extensively with our toddler and ideally want somewhere where we can do some ‘iconic’ sights, some engaging things for toddler and beach time. Travel between March - June next year! Example would be Australia (great barrier reef, lots for children etc) which we did recently and loved.

Thank you :)

Mauritius would be ideal. It’s stunning, with beautiful beaches and also plenty to discover travelling around. They also love kids!

There are loads of gorgeous options in SE Asia - Thailand or Vietnam come to mind. Super child friendly, gorgeous sights and amazing food. Congratulations!

How old will they be by then? Kids and their ability to be good travel and holiday companions can vary a bit with age.

With that window I’d probably be looking at Europe. What about Italy? Loads of iconic sights to see and plenty of beaches. You could combine some city days with the lakes maybe too?

Interesting, I had considered Mauritius but didn’t seem like there was tonnes to do there? Very much happy to be corrected!

nearly 2 :) he’s been a great travelling at all ages so far but I do think I set my expectations accordingly (for example, only eating out on naps!)

Budget is a touch relevant

Rogerthat14 · 18/10/2025 09:08

So as of now, he’s under 1?

It is quite a change when they’re 2 and fully mobile op!

He’s over 1 and been walking for a good few months :) he managed London - Australia a few weeks ago and we had a blast, so he’s a seasoned traveller.

budget is flexible - anything up to £7000 total for 2 weeks perhaps?

Trust me…. Staggering around and walking short distances is not the same as a fully mobile toddler, who may also have dropped naps!

Go on holiday for sure but manage expectations! 😆

What month? And board basis?

There isn’t, especially with a toddler as many of the activities are things like quad biking or water sports/boat trips.

What time of year are you thinking OP? Some of the Caribbean is good for toddlers if you’re looking for non-Europe. Do you prefer luxury or adventure? And all inclusive or self catering?

ETA sorry I see you said March to June - Caribbean should be fine March-May.
