Greek island for mum and 16 year old dd post gcse

Hi, I am hoping to treat my dd to 5-7 days in the sun post gcse exams, so mid June time. I fancy a Greek island but open to other ideas. Basically looking for lots of sunbathing, lovely beaches, sunsets and some nice places to eat out in the evening. I fancy a small, family run hotel with a pool in a safe area. Which island is best? Any recommendations for places to stay? Thank you.

We did Lisbon. There’s loads to do and some fab places you can get to via train/bus including Sintra and Cascais.

Hi there! It is a bit of a peak season for Greek islands, so it's good that you're looking into that already. I've really enjoyed my vacations in Cyclades (Naxos, Paros, Santorini etc). We had a place to stay from a friend of ours (in Naxos) and did day trips to nearby places and stayed to Santorini and Amorgos for a night each). Maybe what could help you decide (definitely has helped us) is this map from ferry hopper https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/blog/featured/greek-islands-guide. Another idea would be coastal Athens, there are nice beaches, nice sea food on the shore and you can get to see Athens as well.

Tigaki is a good shout in Kos

I can recommend Pacifae Golden Village in Kefalonia or Mandraki Village Boutique Hotel in Skiathos. Visited both with my husband but remember thinking they would both be lovely places to visit with my daughters. Not too big, lovely pool areas with no rush for sun beds and good places to eat nearby.

I vote Skiathos. I loved Kefalonia but Skiathis is so easy to get around on the bus. I think it's got better beaches. Skiathos is older teen heaven.

Rhodes is good. Lots to see and a nice town.

Been holidaying in the Greek islands since the late 90s, rarely anywhere else. Done most of the ones cited above too. Never ever had a bad holiday in Greece. Tried Lesvos this year. Less touristy and cheaper than most islands. Kos (Kefalos) for the beaches tho. Just lovely. 🇬🇷

I took DD1 to Corfu after GCSEs, had the best time

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions on here. I’ll add Lisbon to one of my places to visit with DH but for dd Skiathos looks amazing, as does kefalonia.

I went to Lesvos last year. Got a ridiculously cheap deal with Jet2 and stayed in Molyvos. Food and drink prices were really good compared to other Greek islands.

Same!! Brought back loads of really good olive oil-dirt cheap. We stayed in Anaxos but got the road train to Molyvos. Pretty town.

Haven’t been to Skiathos, but have been to other islands. Kefalonia is wonderful but maybe not if you are a teen? Skiathos does sound more lively.

Not an island, but we stayed at Rigas Boutique Hotel in Afytos on Halkadiki. Lovely small hotel with lovely views, excellent restaurant in the hotel, and Afytos a very pretty small town full of restaurants. I know it's not Greece but we stayed at Monte Dourado apartments in Carvoero, Algarve. There's around 80 apartments but they have 5 pools between them. 10 min walk to the town & beach

I'm taking DS to Crete post-GCSEs. He wants to laze around so I've booked an AI where I can park him by the pool while I go exploring. I'd be amazed if he makes it that far TBH. He likes ordering room service so he can stay in bed 🙄

My dd wants to do exactly the same. She loves greece.
