DH and I considering going to Chile over Christmas. Has anyone ever been? Whereabouts did you go? Any recommendations or stuff to avoid? I'd like to see the Atacama Desert but also Patagonia and realise they are very far from each other.

Was Rapa Nui worth it? I had intended to take OH in 2021 for his 50th but the world had other ideas so looking at 2027 and my 50th! Im trying to balance what essentially is 2 days out of the holiday just getting there and back...

But then again, no where on Earth like it.

I’d say so - we went during Tapati festival which was fun so as well as seeing the moai and archaeological side of things we also got to see the modern celebration of their culture.

@garlictwist I have had the rabies vaccine but I got it for when I was trekking in rural Vietnam, I don’t think you need it for Chile. I didn’t really see stray dogs/cats - in some rural areas dogs are loose but they are owned by people and well looked after.

I didn’t have the rabies jab as we booked last minute so there wasn’t time. My DH already had it. We did see wild street dogs in some cities which made me a bit nervous but they left us entirely alone.
