Has anyone been to mull? This is our first trip we have 3 nights and 2 full days. I am very excited. Trying to decide between Staffa boat trip or just a nature watching trip from Tobermory. Also any other must sees?

The Rally is amazing.

It is next week end so if you go later in the month the roads will be better! Always busier rally weekend...
Which area are you staying op?

Been going several times a year for 12 years!!. We go next Friday for the Rally.
Trust me 2 weeks isn't long enough never mind 2 days!!
Take binoculars.. Lots of deer.

Only 5 shops on the island and all £££££ take lots of food! Use the honesty places. Egg,, cheese, meats, vegetables sometimes.. A whole new world over there ime.

Only 5 shops on the island

Don't be ridiculous!

There are lots of shops on Mull, almost all take credit cards. Some small food outlets and the honesty boxes only take cash.

Always good to support the local shops rather than bringing everything with you. The local produce is one of the highlights of Mull.

If you do decide to go to Staffa from Mull (which is so otherworldly with the volcanic rock formations) you need to get fish and chips (or fishcakes and chips) from the wee kiosk (creel seafood bar) at Fionnphort where the ferry goes from.

It doesn't look like much, but we had takeaway fishcakes and chips and sat on the harbour there years ago and still talk about it.

If you are staying south of Mull, then there is not a lot but wildlife and walks. But oh my word are you in for a treat. Beg or borrow or steal some good binoculars, and if you see anyone with a big camera or binoculars out, quietly stop and ask what they are watching....
Iona is one of my favourite places in the world to visit.
I really enjoyed Ulva island as well - so totally different from Iona. A wee foot ferry, take your wellies and wander through the woodlands. The food is amazing if the restaurant is open (not cheap).
Also visit Ardalanish weavers - https://ardalanish.com/
Lochbuie and Loch Spelve are wildlife central - last time I was there I had an otter within 2metres of me while watching 5 golden and a white tailed eagle overhead...

Duart Castle is good, and I thin their coffee shop is open still. Which makes me say - take a flask, a lot of places close for the winter by now.

I missed the word Spar from 5 shops!! Everyday items are expensive.. Use the islands own produce for best use of your money!

As pp says, take the wee ferry to Ulva. No cars or roads and rough tracks but very beautiful. Fantastic scenery and wildlife, you’ll see eagles every day.

@Whereismyfleeceblanketwould love to go to the rally (obv need to be next year) any tips for managing to get booked for it? Do you need tickets for the rally itself or just ferry and accommodation?
