Lake District off road cycle trails

Hi, I'm taking my 8 year old to the Lake District in the October break and looking for off road cycle trails we could use. We've been to Lowther Castle before and will likely head there again - any similar safe trails recommendations would be much appreciated. He's good on a bike but not a fan of very steep hills and I'm keen to avoid actual roads.
Thanks!

Keswick to Threlkeld old railway line - it's not long (5k ish each way) but is very easy and flat with some lovely views on the way. And "fun" bits in the tunnels.

Also Whinlatter and Grizedale, obviously, but they're more mtb centres than easy trails.

As an indication of routes OP, put Google Maps into the default ( non satellite ) mode and choose the cycling option.

The highlighted routes which are a continuous line like the route suggested by @FeelinTwentySixPointTwo , are off road. Dashed routes are shared by other vehicles and as pointed out , many routes are up mountains.

I use an app called Komoot both for cycling and walking, there’s a website too.
you might be able to get route suggestions off the website for free.

There are 3 miles of traffic free cycle paths and a further couple of miles of very quiet roads south of Wray Castle on the west side of Windermere.

There’s an entirely traffic free version of the Langdale Trial https://www.visitlakedistrict.com/dbimgs/GLT-Langdale%20Trail.pdf

and avoid 9-10am on Saturday morning on the Keswick railway line as parkrun use it!

This has a few country lanes, but its very quiet. You can do brass rubbings along the way (just need paper and crayons). www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/21321/eskdale_trail_leaflet.pdf

Another route you could do is to head to the coast for Silloth to Maryport - https://www.westernlakedistrict.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/1-day-Solway-Coaster.pdf I think that Maryport to Allonby is all off road dedicated cycle paths, but it’s been a few years since I’ve ridden it.
