Ask your daughter to help you find the Facebook group. And the other groups people have suggested.

I really don't think that going on holiday with a stranger is going to help you feel any less vulnerable about being on your own.

Chewbecca · 29/09/2025 10:06

Join the main groups, then see on there if any solos are travelling.

Parsleysalad · 29/09/2025 11:50

Can you transfer it to a time when your daughter can go? If you are offering to pay you might end up with a right weirdo

EasternStandard · 29/09/2025 12:26

You’re not going to pay are you op? It’s a lot of money

My first holiday on my own was to Bruges - my friend let me down at the last minute. Its a safe destination and I enjoyed it so much. The following year I went to Paris on my own. After that I never again travelled with a companion. Its fair to say that I had previously travelled out to Morocco alone where I had friends and also travelled abroad with my job as an academic. Eventually I found myself travelling all around the Middle East and to places like Iran and Syria that it is difficult to visit nowadays. Once you take the first step it becomes easier.

Thank you for your kindness, they wont change it all just the name of another person.

Thank you all for your heartfelt replies, i am a people person rather than a loner, my daughter has tried for time off work but they wont give it to her, I just feel i need the support at the moment.

Have you thought about hiring a therapist to be your support?
that way you can have support and not have to worry about a random annoying you. They are there to support you.

On Fb, there is at least one resale group for P&O and Cunard. Whilst it’s not a straight full sale, you could post there. Somebody might be interested as it would save them a lot of money as single cabins are often almost as much as two people in a bigger cabin.

With Cunard there are very very few single cabins, and single occupancy of a double cabin costs as much as double occupancy. It's very annoying.

Yes, only been on P&O recently. There are a few more single cabins but still not that many!

Ambassador cruises sometimes do single travelers cheaper in a double cabin. Look out for them in the future OP. Also Norwegian cruises hold several events for single travelers and they all meet up first night.

MyElatedUmberFinch · 01/10/2025 14:43

I would probably do it if I had my own cabin, I am an experienced traveller, solo and otherwise and have been on 30 cruises. I make friends easily and get in with most people.
It’s the sharing cabin that would put a potential companion off.

Katb202060 · 04/10/2025 19:21

I think it would be easier if i knew someone before the cruise.

I’d be so up for this.
Spontaneous trip!

how much is it? How do we chat about it?

You’re very vulnerable now op, I’d think again about asking a complete stranger to accompany you on a cruise. Not everyone is who they say they are. I’d still go and like others have suggested join the roll call for your ship and cruise and get to know others who will also be travelling solo. There will be some and you’ll meet some lovely people that you don’t then have to spend all your time with.
