For example when my uncle and aunt were on holiday we took a set-top there.

Maybe the Op meant a pit stop as that makes sense???

Yes, friends rented a villa about 20 mins from me in France. Spent a very pleasant afternoon together.

SummerHouse · 28/09/2025 18:57

Yes all the time. I usually take a set top. If not I might take a lub foot and a bob hop. We only use the fee nut hang on our own family holidays.

When I was living abroad my aunt and uncle docked in my city on a cruise and I went to meet them for a coffee.

Yes, I was with DH in Mayo, and DF and DB were in Limerick. We met up in Galway and spent the day together.

Set top? Wasn’t that something you used to watch cable years ago?

InterestPiqued · 28/09/2025 19:46

We have a few times. Most recently we were in Florida at the same time as friends, so we all had dinner together. We did the same with different friends the year before.

Wish they'd bring back the laughing emoji. Grin

A few years ago, I had a lovely pen pal with whom we always said we would meet up, but distance was a problem. Then i found out while I was on holiday with my kids, this pen pal was staying in a caravan in the same area. we had a lovely afternoon together, lots of photos too

veryunsure2025 · 28/09/2025 20:25

Where is OP? What is a set top?!

ElixirOfLife · 28/09/2025 23:07

I’ve never understood why someone starts a thread and disappears off without reading the replies. Assume it’s on purpose after deliberately leaving something vague for people to discuss. Why bother.

Yes we have. We were in Mexico and found out that friends were in the same area, so we met up for drinks, then they invited us to their villa for the afternoon. They do not live in the same city as us, so it was nice to spend time with them.

We also met up with my cousin while visiting Spain. She came up from her town to Valencia where we were staying and we spent the weekend together. She stayed in a nearby hotel which was handy. I hadn't seen her for about 10 years so it was lovely.

I think OP just started the thread to get people to comment asking what a set-top is

MarxistMags · 29/09/2025 00:39

@SummerHouse Brilliant 😁

OOh that reminds me
We went to Mexico on holiday and while we were there DH messaged an old work friend to say that he was visiting the friends home country (friend had said DH should go)
Turns out the friend was not only visiting the In Laws but they were 15 minutes from our hotel. We were invited for Dinner and had a fantastic evening
