Having a weekend break with DP soon. If you’ve been did you buy a multi pass card like the Firenze card or did you just pay for the things you wanted to see? If you did use the Firenze card how easy was it to also pre book entry?

any restaurant recommendations?

thanks!

Osteria Pastella is a fairly central
very tasty pasta restaurant where they bring an enormous wheel of cheese out and put the hot pasta into it at your table so it melts - so delicious! You’d need to book.

Here was also good https://www.allagriglia.com/phone/index.html

We didn’t buy the Firenze card as we only wanted to go to one museum and walked around the other days. Went to some lovely palace gardens.

We had a fantastic time. Make sure you go to one of the rooftop bars for sunset drinks! There’s a fancy hotel where you can go to their rooftop bar which was lovely.

Ristorante Alla Griglia - Cannella

I paid everything separately, lots of things need pre-booking so you need to see if that's possible with the card and also check if the amounts add up.

I had a great lunch in the Mercado Centrale, lots of little deli stalls selling charcuterie boards with a glass of wine.

We bought a ticket which was for Uffizi and Pitti Palace entry and a few museums. Don’t bother with archaeological museum. We also did the Medici chapel and Palazzo Vecchio. If you can see the Vasari corridor that would be worthwhile.

We bought dated and time slot tickets to Uffizi that allowed (if you bought package) access to Boboli Gardens and the Pitta Palace - it was worth it if you know what you want to do. You have to visit the Uffizi first but after that you can do in whatever order you like. We got separate timed slows for Galleria dell 'Accademia to see Michelangelo's David - that was well worth it as lots of queuing when we went out of season. We found some lovely restaurants and bars off Via dei Servi and roundabouts - would also recommend the roof top bar which has a super view and is a bit hidden away (and museum itself) at Museo degli Innocenti

I'd echo booking ahead for your must-sees.
Check what the card offers; when we visited it just wasn't worth it.

Definitely book a slot for the uffizi. Lunch at Nerbone in the market. Take a drink and snacks up to the piazzale de Michelangelo for the views, sunset is good!

Ooh I’m very jealous! I lived in Florence as a student many years ago and absolutely loved it!

Definitely book the Uffizi. There are sometimes late night openings (I think there’s a late night opening of the Vasari Corridor at least at the moment, which is the passageway that goes over the Ponte Vecchio joining the Uffizi and Palazzo Pitti).

The Bobboli Gardens has nice views. The area around Bobboli and Pitti Palace is lovely (Santo Spirito) with a beautiful church and cafes/restaurants.

If you fancy exploring and want a great view of Florence at sunset, I’d recommend getting the bus / taxi to Fiesole - there are some lovely restaurants in the main square with terraces that overlook the city.

Eataly is fun to browse and to have nibbles/aperitifs (it was a bookshop back in my student days).

Vivoli, the oldest gelateria in Florence is worth a visit. Also, the ‘Festival del Gelato’ cafe has so many flavours to choose from - hence my username 😄!!

The Rinascente department store has a rooftop bar / cafe right in the centre which is great for photos and sharing platters etc.

Have a great time!
