Easyjet underseat bag

I panic a bit (lot) and am going away with friends. Can you recommend any bags (ideally cheap and Amazon) that Easyjet were happy with fitting under the seats? Tried and tested. Thanks!

Thanks! I overthink straps etc but good to know this one works.

Just plug in the permitted dimensions of the bag into Amazon and take your pick (45x36x20cm)

No reason to buy a smaller bag than is allowed

Cabin Max specifically make EasyJet underseat sized bags.

Cheap enough, well made, you can fit a lot in.

Second the Cabin Max bags and looking for 'Easyjet specific' to maximise space. Although for future flexibility, you might want to check it will also meet Ryanair, Tui or Jet2 limits as well if you might use those airlines.

Just checking that you'll have enough capacity with one small bag?

You are aware that strictly, you're not allowed a separate handbag, but people do report being able to get away with a small one under their clothes, eg the Uniqlo shoulder bag that was popular a year or so ago.

Before buying a bag, think about the advantages/disadvantages of different types.

A wheelie case means you don't have to carry it but will have a lot less internal space and lacks useful external pockets. I'd also be concerned that it won't fit under all seats; I don't regularly fly Easyjet, but on other airlines, the spacing of the seat frames is sometimes smaller than the space needed for a bag. They'll still allow it on because it's within the rules, but you'll have to find locker space for it and in my limited experience, Easyjet passengers seem to fill the lockers a lot more than Jet2 and Ryanair, so it could be anywhere on the plane, so a bit of a pain if you need something from it mid flight, or when you get off.

Holdalls might be awkward to carry as they're quite heavy when full. Which means I'd probably choose a backpack as easier to carry, lots of pockets for organisation and can double up as a day bag for the beach or buying shopping while away if needed.

I'm in Spain at the moment having flown with Easyjet. This was the cheapest bag I could find https://amzn.eu/d/9peyNPL

I recommend getting packing cubes to put in the bag - they really helped me.

Mumwithbaggage · 18/09/2025 10:43

Thanks for all the suggestions!

One of my friends has booked an overhead locker bigger bag too so I'm sure we'll have enough space between us. Will order a backpack and some packing cubes from Amazon today.

I'm planning on taking the larger ubiquitous Uniqlo bag almost empty so I can stuff it in the top of my backpack - was great last time I was away for sightseeing. We're travelling by train a bit while we're there so a backpack is so much easier than a suitcase.

If you do buy a backpack, can I make a plea to be careful in the plane with it?

I recently saw a couple of CFs getting on Easyjet with three big wheely cabin bags and two backpacks between them (I have no idea how they got all of that past the gate staff) and the man absolutely walloped a small girl standing behind him with his backpack as he made some extravagant move to hoist one of the bags into the overhead locker. She burst into tears and the CF looked round and gave her a dirty look. I said "You just whacked her in the face" and he just shrugged.

That's an extreme story, perhaps, but I regularly have near-misses from people turning round with backpacks as I'm sitting in my favourite aisle seat. If you have a pack on your back, then from front to back you are wider than the aisle. 🙏

I use this one, plus compression packing cubes:

Try a stuffa jacket? Genuinely fits a lot and you can get cheaper versions from amazon

Mumwithbaggage · 18/09/2025 18:09

@samarrange I promise to be careful! Some people!

I agree. I thought it was just a fad when DD bought them, but I used them recently and they really do help.

I found a rucksack that was the perfect dimensions in Moutain Warehouse. I took a tape measure into the shop with me 🙈😂

Vacuum pack underwear and anything that won’t crease!

MiddleAgedDread · 18/09/2025 21:30

This fits Ryanair and is smaller than Sleazyjet sizes but fits loads in and owes me nothing for what it cost www.amazon.co.uk/VMIKIV-40x20x25-Underseat-45x36x20-Backpack/dp/B0FMJFV5BD

Mumwithbaggage · 18/09/2025 23:00

Some absolute bargains out there! Seems I'd already saved a Cabin Max bag on Amazon before posting so will buy that one. Will just need to remember which bag fits which plane - bought a small one when we went to a funeral on Ryanair. Between the 4 dult kids, their partners and us I'm sure whatever I buy for a bargain price will be money well spent.

I'm quite excited at the thought of the packing cubes that zip up to make them smaller! Actually watched a video about packing cubes today.

There are some that you can squash the air out of - they look brilliant.

awakeandasleep · 18/09/2025 23:22

I always have a small crossbody handbag with purse etc and a large handbag not sure of the dimensions but I have never been stopped. Are they really that strict? They have never scrutinised my bag.

Yes, if you’ve only got one underseat bag, they usually mean ONE underseat bag and your handbag has to go in it.

Liking this thread, and I am a superlight packer with loads of Ryanair / EJ flights as experience, also 5 weeks in the far east on cabin baggage only. My advice is, a) rucksack always preferable, but don't over stuff it. Never been checked as it has been hoisted my shoulders (50 flights+) - they are looking for cases really b) husband cannot cope with travelling light so books the 10kg cabin bag, speedy boarding deal - I don't actually ever use any of this space, but I would if I needed to, we board separately, so we have to be sure that mine is fine before getting on - they won't let you transfer stuff at the gate c) 80% of the time, you do not have to have your rucksack under your seat - once the speedy boarders and the cabin bag sorts are on, if there is space in the lockers, hoist it in there with confidence, but d) have your essentials with you (mine are earphones, water, phone, credit card, plastic bag). Sometimes (1 time in 10) c) backfires and they make it a thing that you have to have it under your seat. That's fine. It is what you paid for. Although it is not the question here (and you should go to Hotdeals UK for a look at the cheapest bags that suit, some only a tenner) also really think about what you really need - most hotels have shampoo, towels etc. It is massively freeing to hoist your ultralight rucksack on your back and off you go out of the terminal. Have a good time x
