Top tips for london weekend with teenage ds.

Me and teenage ds are going to London this weekend, we are going to see the Foo Fighters at Wembley on Saturday night but wanted to get some touristy things in too.

We will get to London around 9.30 am Sat morning and leave on the Sunday at 6pm.

We'd like to see the tower of london, covent garden and the bus tour. Is there anything else that stands out to you that might be good for a teenager and in what order is best.

We are flying into Heathrow.

Many thanks.

How old is DS and what sort of things is he into? Covent Garden isn't that thrilling to be honest, unless you like crowds, street side cafes selling overpriced cafe and paninis and second rate street performers.

London Eye

Duck Tour or any of the boats down the river

Would he like the Science Museum - my very geeky Godson (15) loves it and the Natural History

Does he want to shop e.g. Nike Store, Abercrombie & Fitch?

Thanks.

He's 16. Good point abount Covent Garden.

A museum is a thought as is the duck tour, I've never it though, will google it now.

duck tour It really is great. And leaves from near the London Eye so you can do both

My ds 16 normally loves the opportunity of shopping in London - but that depends on where you're flying in from!

Madame Tussauds?

War Museum?

Tate Gallery?

The London Eye would be fab because it would give him an idea of London from a 'bird's eye' view.

South Bank would be a pretty good place. Go to the Tower of London first, cross over Tower Bridge and then walk down the other side of the river. If the weather's good it's a gorgeous walk with a great skyline on the other side of the river. It should take about 20-40 minutes to get from there to Westminster depending on how fast you want to walk it but it takes you past, amongst other things, The Globe Theatre, London Eye, the Millenium Bridge and The Tate.

In terms of specific activities, there's various pubs and restaurants to go to ranging from the pretty basic to the slightly more exciting - if you can afford to splash out try the Oxo Tower brasserie for lunch. If not, the cafe at the Tate is a lot cheaper and has almost as stunning views. For DS, you go past the London Dungeons (nice and macabre albeit a bit touristy), London Eye (expensive but fun), the Duck Tour drop off/ pick up point and maybe best of all, the massive Namco Station arcade at Westminster Bridge... (about three floors of latest gaming technology, pool etc) - your idea of hell possibly, but great for teenagers!
