Norfolk Coast - where to go and where to stay

I would like to take my family to Norfolk for the first time next summer, my little ones will be 1 and 2 by then.
I want to be able to walk to a nice clean sandy beach from our accomodations, nice places to eat, entertainment and amusements, nature etc.

So far I've only look at Pinewoods Lodges in Wells-next-to-sea.

Any suggestions would be great.

How about Sheringham? Lovely quiet town but has a lovely beach, ice cream shops and bandits. Also has a traditional little bakery on the high street.

Cromer is close by for a day trip and there’s lots to do in the wider area.

Not sure what kind of accommodation you’re considering but we live in Norfolk and frequently stay at Haven in Caister, the sandy beach is beautiful and you can walk straight onto it from the site. There are some lovely restaurants around (planet spice and the smokehouse for example) and it’s a good location to also see north Norfolk and also Southwold (Suffolk). If you like traditional seaside type stuff you’ve got Yarmouth just down the road. Out of all the Norfolk Havens caister has the best bit of beach by far.

What’s your budget?

In North Norfolk you get what you pay for, i’m afraid. If you can afford it, I’d go for a holiday cottage in Wells or Brancaster .

Barefoot Retreats (primarily Brancaster, which has a lovely beach, and Burnham Market) have nice properties, and excellent customer service. Reasonably expensive though.

Norfolk’s Hideaway’s (cottages up annd down the coast) are alright, some properties are a bit dumpy - and it’s a bit overpriced for what it is. Reasonable customer service.

I wouldn’t touch Blakeney Cottages - not unless you want to turn up to a building site next door (that they knew about and didn’t mention anywhere), fence panels missing in a ‘dog secure garden’ and what looked suspiciously like a blood stain on the sheets.

I’m pretty sure there’s a few caravan/static caravan parks in Wells that are owned by the guy that owns Holkham Hall - If I’m right they’ll be v. Good quality. He doesn’t do things cheaply.

I spent my happiest childhood days in Caister; you’ve sent me right down memory lane.

We stayed at Elm Beach caravan site, next to the big Vauxhall site. Oh, such happy times.

Hermanos Holidays at Winterton on Sea used to be good for littlies. Havent been for a while but worth looking at récent reviews . . .
