can anyone please recommend a free app that will help me keep track of my days in Schengen region? I can only find ones that are expensive in App Store

I use Schengen Cal for elderly parent. I am fortunate to have dual nationality, so don't need it for me. I find it excellent. I don't know if you can get it on Apple though, I assume so.

I have a free android one which does the job. There seem to be a few choices.

thank you - I'll give this a go. It says in-app purchases which usually means it will start charging after you get the hang of it!! Fingers crossed

You can also do it on a physical calendar, like a year planner.

Get 90 peelable/reusable stickers. Put one on the calendar for every day you will be in the Schengen area. If you run out of stickers, go back 6 months and peel off every sticker from before that point, because those correspond to days that you "get back" under the 90-in-180 rule. There's a good explanation of how this work .

(It's 180 days, not 6 months, so this approach is very slightly conservative — but if you get close enough that 180 days versus 183 makes a difference, you are going to get in trouble if bad weather delays your return flight.)

@sofaRunner I've just had a look. The upgrade is £2.99 and it is to remove the adverts (which are not intrusive).

thanks, I've uploaded it & so far its looking good. One big benefit is that it tells me if a country is in Schengen area which embarrassingly I don't know off by heart. Nearly left off a visit to Switzerland because its not in the EU but is in Schengen. Thanks again

The Schengen area is all of the continental EU, plus all of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland) and Switzerland. Among EU members, only Cyprus and Ireland are outside it. Cyprus should join next year if all goes well, and Ireland will never join it as long as there is the common travel area with the UK. Andorra and the microstates are de facto part of Schengen. So basically the whole of Europe, minus Albania and some of ex-Yugoslavia.
