Thinking of somewhere maybe in the new year or spring we could go. We have an 8, 6 and 10 week old. We’d be flying from the UK and I’m just wondering where people would recommend to go with such a young child? Want to wait until she’s a bit older than 6 months. Thank you!

I simply wouldn’t and didn’t. It isn’t a holiday with a baby that young. It’s just work.

I’m confused. How old will they be when you travel anf what time of year will it be? At 6 months old mone were crawling which is a very different holiday.

I was going to suggest some UK beaches......

I just wouldn't. Use the money to relax at home. Fun day trips, one off house deep clean or garden tidy, treaty food out or delivered to home. Maybe a swimming crash course for the older kids, or other activity that they wouldn't normally get to do (while you sit about and drink tea, stare at the walls or dandle the baby). Less stress and more enjoyable/relaxing for all of you.

I'd go anywhere with a decent healthcare system. Our first holiday abroad with DC1 was at age 9 weeks. It was absolutely fine. We went to a Greek island.

We also went to Malaysia when DC1 was 3.5 years and DC2 18 months. That was also fine.

Holidays are definitely not the same witb little kids but I always thought I'd rather go than not.

I would say in general it's better to rent a house rather than stay in a hotel so that you can put the baby to bed and then leave tbe room and enjoy the evening. Quite a good idea to take grandma with you too to help with childcare.

We took our 4 month old around SE Asia for a month. Honestly, so much easier than taking a 1 year old or toddler on a long haul flight.

So I'd personally just go somewhere that will suit the needs of your older children. Focus on really good accommodation where you each have separate space so baby isn't disturbed by older children and you can relax after the older kids are in bed.

Are you confined to school holidays?

Her older children are at school I presume, so yes they would be. What a silly answer.

OP I would just do UK for now. There's some lovely places to explore.

Septemberisthenewyear · 04/09/2025 18:22

What time of year are you wanting to travel?

Wisenotboring · 04/09/2025 18:28

The holiday you are looking for is an ikos holiday. Not cheap, but definitely the most relaxing holidays I have dome with small children.

budgiegirl · 04/09/2025 19:28

We took our children abroad from 3 months old. It was fine - not a relaxing as before kids, but still lovely, and we have very happy memories.

We went to Lanzarote and Menorca. We self catered as we found it easier, mostly due to the children having their own room, and having somewhere to sit (by the pool or on the terrace) in the evening once the children had gone to bed. We could also have a swim in the day when they were napping. No kids clubs of course, but mine were never in to that any way!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 04/09/2025 19:29

I wouldn't bother.

You'll be doing the same mothering, but without the familiar surroundings.
And organising more luggage than for yourself.

Next summer, U.K. bucket and spade holiday. Wouldn’t fly with dc those ages as way too much faff. If you want to go abroad, France, Normandy beaches are lovely

Silvertulips · 04/09/2025 19:47

depends what your expectations are.

There are centre parcs abroad type places, lots if hotels in Turkey have pools and crèche on site, you may prefer a village -

We cant help unless you tell us more.
