Turkey - meals out prices

Looking at a holiday to Turkey next May.

Thinking of going all inclusive, but do you like to go out and explore?

If we go bed and breakfast will it cost a fortune in eating out?

Not our main holiday so don’t want to spend a fortune.

Also, I will have 2 blonde teen girls - will they get grief?

Prices for food and drink are similar to the UK now, we were averaging roughly £60 for lunch and £80 for dinner as a family of four with two grown kids.
We have two girls and they have never had any grief, they do know how to react towards Turkish men though as my husband is Turkish. Just tell them not to react to anything, to look a bit standoffish and they will be fine.Mostly it’s just a bit of banter though.
Which part of Turkey are you looking at?

Thanks for your reply. We were looking at going AI so at least you know what you are spending but I think we would miss going out for dinner somewhere.

I know nothing about Turkey, can you recommend one of the nicer towns? 😁

are you there now? Are you having a wonderful time?

We have got back recently and it was lovely, as always, we go all the time.
We love the Bodrum Peninsula, Bitez, Turgutreis and Yalikavak are lovely. I would avoid Marmaris, it's a bit like Blackpool in the sun 😂

workingcocker · 03/09/2025 12:07

Thanks, that is very much something I wish to avoid.

I find you can make it as cheap or as expensive as you like. Everyone moans on the facebook groups that it's costing the same as the UK but I didn't have that experience at all. We normally go B&B. Our cheapest meal was £23, that was a two course meal each and drink each for 2 people. Our most expensive meal was £54, that was a 3 course meal each and 3 drinks for 2 people. You'd never get that in the UK. We go to Hisaronu/Oludeniz area and it's absolutely stunning!! So many things to do and you'll never get bored x

I find it slightly cheaper to here in tourist places.

Agree. We have been twice now and have had a lovely time. There are plenty of quieter, family orientated hotels that don't cost a fortune and where you can do B&B / self catering easily.

Lots of Turkish people have blonde hair. They couldn't care less what colour your hair is. That they would care is an outdated and ill-educated assumption.

Are you usually so vile? Or just when you're behind your keyboard?

I don’t think that post was the least bit vile.

According to Google 4% of people in Turkey are naturally blonde. Is that not correct.

I wanted to avoid areas where the girls would get approached and letched over by the local men. Places like Morocco and Tunisia are places that I would avoid for that reason.

That may be correct, but your assumption that they would care is incorrect. It's an outdated fallacy. I can't speak for the other countries you've mentioned but hopefully someone can.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 05/09/2025 15:29

There actually quite a lot of blonde Turkish women, not natural of course but plenty who have dyed their hair, it’s really not uncommon so please don’t worry OP
