Insurance in Europe

DH and I are travelling to Canada, Malta, Italy and Turkey over a 7-week trip. He's on a UK passport, I'm on NZ. He has very mild COPD and Type2 diabetes which is controlled by diet and exercise. I wonder if anyone can tell me, please, what the story is about declaring a pre-existing condition on the travel insurance policy for a British citizen with reciprocal medical rights?

Very many thanks for any advice...

Declare absolutely everything otherwise the ‘basic’ insurance could be withdrawn even if he broke his arm he may not be insured

Never take a risk

Staysure is excellent with pre medical conditions

Thank you so much for the info. So even if you cut your arm, your insurance might be invalid if you haven't declared mild COPD?

Yes, exactly. You need to declare everything.

Existing medical conditions need to be declared. Use comparison sites and more than one as they can vary, and make sure you put pre existing medical conditions. It will then ask you to name each one and add them.

I have always found Staysure more expensive.

And yes, even if you claim for something minor, if you haven't told them of pre existing conditions then they won't pay out.

Also make sure you have a GHIC card [ as well as travel insurance ]. This card is free, but many sites will ask for payment. Go to gov.uk to find it.

Thank you everyone, very much.

You don't need specialist insurance like Staysure, I found them very expensive. I have a very long list of medical conditions and top two companies were All clear and Aviva.
As others said declare everything. They usually want to know anything in the last two years that you've seen a doctor for or taken medication for.
