Sorrento / Amalfi Coast

Planning a girly mini break (basically child free adult time). 3 days/nights.
Looking for suggestions about places to stay in Sorrento and/or the surrounding area.
What is it like?
I'm just wanting a lovely little town to walk around / enjoy some views / sit and drink coffee / eat dinners / drink wines etc.
We'll probably catch a boat along the coast line etc.

But specifically looking for holiday lets / hotel recommendations to stay directly in town so all walking distance.

Depends on the time of year. In the summer it is packed with tourists like sardines, you can hardly move around. It’s also extremely expensive during the summer, no matter where you book to stay.

We went to Alamfi when we went on a cruise day trip and it was beautiful. A friend loves Postiano. I really want go back, explore Sorrento a bit more and spend a few days on the amalfi coast. It’s one of the most stunning places i’ve been to and I definitely want to see more of it.

I’d stay in Sorrento itself, preferably after the school holidays are over. There are several hotels that might suit you.We stayed in the town, not in a hillside hotel on the edge so exploring and nipping back to our room was easy.
Positano is exceptionally hilly, lovely views, but clinging to the cliff, as is Amalfi. Both are well worth a visit.
We booked a couple of tours to vineyards/ Pompeii before we went.

Would end of April / mid May be OK?

Thank you.
From Sorrento it looks like you can do a day trip by boat to POS / Amalfi?
And as for hotels .... I've been looking, a lot. And tend to have found that most are air bnbs or apartments to hire. Which I'm find with, but haven't seen many hotels.

I think the boat trips are run in the summer. It’s easy to get the bus from Sorrento, and then have the thrill of the coastal roads!
Jet2 have quite a few hotels in Sorrento centre, even if you don’t book with them you can read the hotel descriptions.
