3+ hour transfer with toddler and baby

Would you book a holiday with a long hotel transfer? It's coach, boat, coach. Hotel is right by the port the other side so should be quick after the boat. The hotel and destination looks lovely and in my head a boat ride will be fun, right?! We have a 3 year old and 6 month old.

Have you looked at the TUI Blue Hotels? TUI Blue Flamingo Beach in Lanzarote has everything you are looking for I think……. It’s very baby/small child friendly, on the beach, you can walk into town/the marina.

Thank you. I'm not massively keen on the Canaries after a stay in Costa Adeje, but will take a look!

Also a seasoned traveller and I probably wouldn’t - unless it’s for somewhere really amazing and a 2 week holiday- cos it would be a full day travelling each way plus probably the day afterwards to get over the experience! Horrendous if it’s only a 7 day trip.

id keep it simple - short flight and short transfer.

I have a 5yo and 2.5yo and still wouldn't do that.

I looked at Croatia but the ferry times to the islands can be difficult. When we would have been going we would have got in to the airport at 9am, next ferry transfer wasn’t into 6.30pm. I didn’t fancy a day of hanging around and I certainly wouldn’t with small children!

No I wouldn’t - remember you need to be at the airport at least two hours before the flight, your flight might be delayed, then there’s the flight itself, then you need to allow an hour to go through passport control and get your luggage, then you board a coach……… We’ve just done a two hour transfer with a five year old and it was “just” bearable (constant asking if we are there yet, complaining of being hungry, asking when dinner is, asking if we will arrive in time for dinner etc).

Yes I just did the maths, think it's one to save for the next decade 😅 glad I asked though, thanks all.

There are easier places in Croatia than that. Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is a hotel but has apartments which are great for mornings with young DC. Pine Cliffs Portugal is a similar set up and transfer times are wayyyy better.
