Hi , I’ve been looking at a 5 day holiday beginning of Sept with our 19 year old dd in Majorca this appeals as its short haul
Pollensa looks busy and expensive , I’m looking for advice on Cala D’Or , would this area be ok for a 19 year old she likes shopping & we would like to be close to restaurants
Thankyou for any suggestions .

There are plenty of restaurants there, I think it’s more of a younger persons place so should be great for your daughter. Can’t remember how good the shopping is though sorry. Been a couple of times and it’s not the prettiest resort we’ve been to but it’s got plenty going on

It’s fine for five days. It’s not a singles resort, more families. No high end shopping. The beach in the cove is very pretty and it’s fun to walk around the marina and look at the super yachts. It feels safe.

Alcudia may be more her thing

Thankyou for your replies & information , I’ll take a look at Alcudia as well , it’s difficult with a 19 year old and I think 5 days is enough

I liked Cala D'Or, lots of restaurants but I've never gone shopping on holiday so didn't really notice shops. The centre has a busy feeling and it's a mix of nationalities.
The beaches are picturesque but small and get crowded.
PalmaNova might suit better.

I live in Pollensa - it’s not cheap to holiday in and is more for young families and the elderly. I’d go for Alcudia as well - if your daughter wants to go shopping you can get the bus to Palma where all the best shops are. It’s only about an hour and a quarter to get there and the buses are cheap.

Definitely Alcudia or Port Soller - you can go to Palma on the orange train for shopping from the latter, which is very picturesque. Cala D'Or is pretty small and isn't great for shopping.

Cala D’Or is beautiful and it’s not very busy in September. We’ve had some great holidays there at that time of year. There’s plenty of restaurants. It’s not great for shopping but it’s a much nicer resort than Alcudia imo.

We (couple early 40s) went to mallorca last year, spent 4 nights in cala d'or and 3 nights in palma. Honestly, cala d'or wasn't really what I was expecting based on what I'd read beforehand. It's certainly not 'beautiful' and it feels a bit run down and tired tbh. I didn't find the bar and restaurant offering particularly exciting. There is a 'high street' for shopping but again not massively inspiring.
There are some very pretty towns and other things to do in the area.
I'd have been massively bored as a 'typical'19 yr old.

Palma by contrast I was pleasantly surprised by. Has the bars, restaurants and shopping in spades and beach plus other interesting attractions (eg train to soller).

I guess it depends what kind of break you're looking for.
