I paid £15.15 for three 125ml tubs in Oddono's. I'm glad it's that expensive - stops me going in too often as it's only round the corner!

Grande waffle cone at Amorino - £7.50

Three came to £20 so around £6.60 each, but we did have two scoops, and it was absolutely delicious gelato so I would do it again. The one I really resented was £4 for a magnum from the ice cream at the kids park, I could buy a box of four for that price

I don't generally go to total 'captive market' type places such as festivals and theme parks but I was braced for 'how much' Shock at the ice cream kiosk next to the Trevi Fountain in Rome with no prices so an obvious candidate for rip off central. I was pleasantly relieved that my single scoop tub was 'only' 3.50 euros. My friend got a double scoop with some sort of topping and even that was 5 euros, which feels like less than what they could get away with charging.

I usually get a single scoop or waffle cone and in most places - seaside ice cream kiosks etc it's usually around this price. Exceptions were a popular German city where it was 1.50 euros and the Perlan museum in Reykjavik where it was the equivalent to £6 which felt reasonable given how expensive Iceland is in general.

I've started seeing an ice cream as an alternative to a coffee on a day out. I don't drink soft drinks, don't like paying for water if I can help it and often don't fancy a coffee if it's hot but do feel like I could have a snack and a drink so it can be a cost effective way of satisfying both those requirements.

$9 for two scoops, at a gelato place just outside Central Park on Sunday.

I paid similar for 2 ice creams at the Statue of Liberty, although they were pretty large to be fair.

My work is giving away free mr Whippies for staff. probably cheaper than paying for air con.

£6 last weekend at a festival. Wasn’t impressed at my husband, who earns more than me and I’d paid for the full festival tickets, picking the most expensive one on the menu!

DH paid £6 at the test match at Old Trafford.

Becs258 · 15/08/2025 20:27

€4 in Monaco. Seems pretty reasonable compared to some of these!

Gloriousgardener11 · 15/08/2025 21:56

£2.75 in Jersey, everything else on the island is quite expensive but their ice creams are old school prices compared to the mainland!

Thenextstep82 · 15/08/2025 21:57

3.75 I think it was - South Devon

But can I join in with pasties?
£7.50 for a steak pasty at Salcombe???

Favouritefruits · 15/08/2025 21:59

Honestly it’s mind blowing! Italian ice cream (only vanilla available) any topping annd any sauce £1.80! No way would I pay four flipping quid for an ice cream!

SophiaSW1 · 15/08/2025 22:00
