Longhaul flights with 14 month old

Hi,

We have 4 x 7 hours flights coming up at the end of this month and I'm looking for some help.

• recommendations on what food to take for on the flight (1 flight will cover her dinner then other 3 breakfast and lunch)
Obviously I can't take anything that needs to be kept cold or warmed up as It will be prepared around 7-8 hours before eating. My go to would normally be a wrap with nut butter but I dont want to risk someone having a nut allergy on the flight and she can't eat it.

• any items you recommend that made your life easier? For example disposable plates/bibs so you don't have to wash them after every meal

We took smiggle snack tubes and filled them with chocolates, crisps, fruit etc for the kids to snack on. The compartments twist apart from each other so you can give one at a time sort of thing. The only thing is we only did a short flight so I don't know how well it would work on a long haul

I have very little long haul experience, but don't the airlines offer a kids meal of some sort?

Not age under 2 unfortunately as she doesn't have a seat. I think they offer purees for infants but she doesn't eat purees now she's older.

Ah that's shit, since you're presumably paying for a lap infant fare!

As an aside, that's a long way with her on your laps. Could you purchase a seat for her? Or fingers crossed, there's a free seat in your row!

I always took some cooled cooked plain pasta with me...grapes, cheese cubes, soft bread rolls with butter. This was short haul but may help. Ella's kitchen do those yogurt pouches which don't need cooling and fill up more than just a puree.
