Has anyone or would any go to either of these destinations with kids?
im looking for a budget last minute holiday for next week just myself & 3 kids.
was looking at Spain but all I can afford is very basic 3* hotels which don’t look very appealing.
Ive looked at Bulgaria & Tunisia and the same price I can get a really nice looking 4* hotels which by the beach. I just don’t want somewhere unsafe or where there’s no other British families for my kids to play with.
I did look at turkey, again the hotels in budget don’t have the best reviews on food or WiFi. And I’m not keen on such a long flight.

No thank you. Went to Bulgaria skiing and blows never to go back under any circumstance. Tunisia is not up there either. There’s a reason they’re cheap.

Look at the home office recommendations on Tunisia. Certain areas are unsafe.

I loved Tunisia some excellent resorts. I did find the locals pushy if you go the markets but be firm with no thank you and your fine. It will likely be HOT so bare that in mind. My kids also loved Tunisia.

We loved Bulgaria stayed in sunny beach a few years ago my girls were 11 and 8.

before we had children we went to Tunisia which was ok if we stayed in the hotel. I found it hard when we went out of the hotel with children begging and shop keepers very pushy and cross if we didn’t buy anything.

Try San Stefanos in Corfu ( NW ). The beach is beautiful and made the holiday imo. The trade off is the transfer from the airport ( you easily get a private transfer ). Family friendly small resort, lots of long term returners from UK - we did a cheapie fly and flop self catering. Local travel agency does trips to the water park. FB groups are a fountain of knowledge. I found it through a tip here on mumsnet .

Tunisia is very stressful if you don’t like being hassled, or if you want to go for a walk unescorted by a male.

NormaSears · 30/07/2025 22:08

Tunisia can be great, but it depends on the resort and the hotel, and what you like doing.

Minecroft · 30/07/2025 22:10

I’d rather stay in the UK, honestly. What’s you’re budget and where flying from?

Santasbigredbobblehat · 30/07/2025 22:19

Try Morocco.

Been to both, really didn’t like Tunisia, felt uncomfortable outside of the hotel complex.

Bulgaria, I’ve been to a few times. Mostly skiiing but once to Sunny Beach. It was ok, cheap and cheerful, bit tacky, wouldn’t return but it did the job for some cheap sunshine.

Same. You couldn’t pay me to go to either. There’s a reason that they’re cheap.

IndieRocknRoll · 31/07/2025 09:00

I wouldn’t go to Tunisia as a single woman.
I’ve been before and wouldn’t go back. To be fair the hotel complexes tend to be lovely but you can’t leave them without feeling unsafe. We even got hassled on the beach.

Went to Bulgaria , Sunny Beach, before it became the party place it seems to be now, nothing wrong with it at all, great beach, long esplanade, lots of shops, nice enough people and some historic sites if you interested. Think it’s now a lot noisier and more 18- 30 focused

AvidJadeShaker · 31/07/2025 11:04

I’ve been to Bulgaria twice with DC and to Tunisia on my own. If you want a mainly resort based hotel with your DC I’d pick Tunisia in the most expensive hotel you can afford.
