I have been to West Cork, which is beautiful. To see the real countryside, I fear you may need a car.

Macroon is a little town that may be accessible by transport. They have a few pubs there. We ate in Granville’s, which was delicious.

County Cork is the largest county in Ireland - a car would really be best but… get a bus from the bus station in the city and head west for Clonakilty, Sibbereen or Bantry. All lovely towns with good selection of bars and restaurants. Lovely beaches close by too.

Cork isn’t great so definitely get a car and drive around. I loved Ballycotton.

You can easily get down to the coast by bus. As well as Bus Eireann, there is the West Cork Connect bus company. Easy day trips are Kinsale, Clonalilty, Skibereeen and villages on between.

Loads of great places to eat in the city too.

I am from County Cork and no problems if you do not have a car. Bus eireann, West Cork Connect and Also Local Link. Google is your friend. There is a new road also Cork to Killarney so you can be in County Kerry is less then and hour. Most towns have a tourist office , pop in there. For Cork to Dublin you can get a bus Air Coach or City link . You can also get a train. There is a bus from the Rail station on the hour to Kinsale. There is a Local Link from KInsale to Clonakilty many times a day.

Cork City is fab, do a walking tour to get the best narrative if you can’t get one in person you can download a walking tour, Kinsale is absolutely stunning, west Cork from Roscarberry all the way to Beara peninsula is some of the best scenery in Ireland in my humble opinion, spike island is interesting too.

I live in Kerry which is near Cork , Kinsale & Cobh absolutely fabulous..
There is a lovely wildlife park , Fota Island & the Titanic experience in Cobh , lovely restaurants..
Kinsale is a fishing village, also beautiful. I’m not sure what the story with buses would be if you’re not driving, but both get a lot of tourists so I’m sure a good service from the City…

Kinsale is a must.
