Obviously, insurance, passports etc.
But what things are handy, cheaper to take, and what should I leave behind to save luggage space?

Any tips, not been abroad in 6 years. So excited bound to only focus on my new clothes!!Need some sensible people to bring me back to earth. Staying in a private owned apartment. So no security of hotel, or tour operator.

Send me your tips.

headache tablets!!
actually a really good first aid kit, with calpol, suntan lotion, disinfection/Antiseptic wipes/spray, rehydrate, plasters, bandages, aftersun, antihistamines/something for bites. Depending on your child maybe laxatives. Thermometer, scissors and tweezers, Travel sickness tablets/wristbands. Water purification tablets and mosquito repellant also maybe one of those mosi repellants for the room which you plug in.

How old are they? When mine were 2 and 4-ish, we used to buy pasta and sauce etc.. at supermarkets out there and cook them a familiar tea normal time, before sticking them in the buggy to come out with us in the evening. That way, we didn't waste money on food they might be fussy about. And with a siesta early afternoon, they could last the evening without getting fractious. This was in the Mediterranean though, where they're generally more receptinve to kids out at night. Also, even now they're older, I take Cadbury choc snacks and small bags of hulahoops when we go skiing to keep them going 'til lunchtime. "Foreign" snacks aren't the same! Ought to say, however, that they do now eat pretty much what's on offer abroad at mealtimes.

hi,

thanks everyone.

they are 2 and 4. Was wondering what to do at night. But that sounds a good idea, feed first then they will last longer so we can have a bit of a relax and a meal.

only going to menorca so 2.5hrs. at good times.

thanks for the tips.

Sounds obvious, but check that your passports are up to date!

Also, don't forget to let your credit card company/ies know that you're going away, so that they don't put a stop on your card for unusual use.

Travel adaptors so that you can plug stuff in.

Pop up sun tent, if you're going to be on the beach?

Just lots and lots of clothes. First time I took kids abroad I was obsessed with saving luggage space for souvenirs etc and spent what felt like most of the holiday feeling bitter and resentful as I hand-washed clothes and faffed about trying to dry them.

If you are going to the beach/pool swim rings/inflatables/beach games can be had for £1 here(Poundland) but be anything between 5 &10euro over there. Plus you have them for the first day of the holiday and don't have to go shopping for them and at £1 you don't feel so bad about leaving them for other families.
