New York with a 5 month old

In December? Hubby has time off in December and we're thinking of going to New York. Nothing booked at the moment as baby isn't even here yet but would like to get a few tips etc.

Do you take your car seat with you for cab travel too and from the airport?

We have a sling so we'd use that for during the day and then hopefully the pushchair part of our travel system in the evening when he's sleeping.

Does anyone know of any appartments or reasonable hotels with self laundry where I can wash some of baby's bits and pieces when we are there. Likely to be 5 nights.

Thank you

We took ds1 to new york when he was 9 months but it was in the feb, absolutley freezing..you will definatley need a snowsuit and i would say a pushchair so you can wrap lo up in blankets etc. Plus it will be easier for you as you will do a lot of walking around which would probably be better than carrying the baby all day..plus you can use the pushchair to carry all the bags of shopping you'll have

We also travelled with Virgin, we requested a sky cot and wewre given seats at the front where they attach a little cot to the wall so baby can lie down etc, also had pushchair right up to gate and were given it back straight away when we landed.

Our airlines would be Delta and Continental as they both operate directly from Edinburgh. Saves us coming down through London.

Will keep looking though and thanks for your tips.
