What time would you get up on holiday?

We are going away in a week and have been to the hotel before.
Pool opens at 10am, they have ropes round until then.
People queue for sunbeds as they want th ones along the front of the pool so they can watch kids in the pool.
we have a 8 year old who we also want to be able to sit in the front sun beds and watch in the pool.
so, would you wake up 9/9.15 go down and queue by the pool and when they drop the rope at 10 put your towels in preferred sunbeds and then go off to have breakfast in the hotel, returning to sunbeds and pool around 10.45am -11am.
OR would you get up around 8am go and have breakfast then be ready to queue for pool for 10md get sunbeds and start your day around the oooo then.
We stay up the night before watching the shows and singers until around 10.30pm and head back to bed.
what does your holiday time like consist of ie are you keen to get up and get going early so not to waste the sunshine and Easter your day, or do you lay in until 9.30 and have a slow start?

Thanks for the replies.
We love this hotel and have been several times, however I keep seeing stories about subbed wars in their Facebook group since we last went.
In the last 7 times we’ve been we’ve not had an issue, but it’s making me nervous that we will have to fight for a subbed. I don’t want to be that person 🤣 It's cringey and not what I want to be a part of.
However a big part of our holiday for our 8 year old is pool, he is an only child so we tend to like to get the from row sunbeds so me and dad can relax whilst being able to have all eyes on him.

I have seen several of you say they have or would have removed towels for people who have not returned for hours, I would love to have the courage to do this but I worry about them coming back and kicking off at me 🤣

I can’t imagine spending the day on a sunbed by the pool. Maybe a couple times or half a day at most. But I’d get up early for breakfast if my intention was to stay on a sunbed - the practise of ‘reserving’ should be banned.

pizzaHeart · 29/07/2025 00:39

I wake up at least at 7.30 to go down and reserve sunbeds. Then go back, we have breakfast and then go down to the pool. The rest of people do the same.
Im not an early riser at all but I like to have a sunbed in a certain place. I compensate when we are back home.

Yes, option 2 or this might happen. You can’t put towels down then swan off for an hour for breakfast.

I don't do this kind of holiday, it's my idea of hell, so I'm clueless... but what if they've just gone for a swim?

MarketSt · 29/07/2025 00:54

To me that isn’t a holiday at all and I’d be staying elsewhere.

But if I had a no choice then I’d be using the bed as soon as I claimed it.

UrbanOasis · 29/07/2025 00:55

If reviews mention queuing for sunbeds, then it's a no no for me

Thulpelly · 29/07/2025 01:15

I’ve never been on a holiday like this

NewbieYou · 29/07/2025 05:02

In this scenario I’d get up at 8 for that plan some days and then I’d plan sleep in days where we’d go to the beach or on a day trip other days. You don’t want to be up early every day but neither is it fair to leave sunbeds ‘reserved’.

For me, we’d generally wake up late and somehow find sunbeds anyway. We seem to always be able to for some reason - must be a gift.

If you leave the sunbed to go for breakfast, no guarantee they would be available when you came back?

Yellowbirdcage · 29/07/2025 05:44

Ugh it’s so inefficient. The best spots not being utilised by the most people. Would be great to have some sort of system where beds couldn’t be reserved for more than half an hour. Put a card on them or something then remove when time is up.
Everyone would be less stressed.
But I wouldn’t stay somewhere like that as I get up early and go for an early swim about 7am before breakfast. Then avoid the sun until the afternoon.

Crazy for two reasons, no way am I queuing for sunbeds and no way would I let an 8 year old go in the pool without being in the pool myself, kids under 12 or so need proper supervision, lying nearby isn’t enough.

My local pool allows 8 yos in without an adult.

LavenderBlue19 · 29/07/2025 06:18

I wouldn't go to this hotel again - can't stand sunbed wars and people who leave towels on them then vanish for hours. A decent hotel will have a limit on how long they can be left empty.

Anyway. I wake up early regardless of whether I'm on holiday or not, so if I had to I would do option 2.

Bellavida99 · 29/07/2025 06:26

I’ve never been somewhere where you queue for sun beds but I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to move someone’s towel. If I did I’d probably move towels onto one sun bed then carry other sun beds to a different location so they didn’t know it was me. Sounds awful, especially the one who sends husband to queue at 6am. How can you enjoy that? If it’s that bad I’d go to the beach for the day

TizerorFizz · 29/07/2025 06:32

Is this a holiday? Awful. How can anyone relax?
