French Alps or Swiss Alps for honeymoon in June?

Hello, would love some advice/recommendations on where to choose for a 1 week honeymoon. We are flying into Geneva next June (flights booked) and staying 1 night in Geneva as it is a late flight. Probably not hiring a car.
We were thinking of going to Chamonix in France which my DH-to-be is keen on. But my heart keeps pulling me back to Switzerland. We have never been to the Alps before but I have a childhood dream of visiting (since reading Heidi! 😂). I have heard that Murren and Wengen are lovely in BO. Also read about some lesser visited villages in that area.
We love walking (Lake District etc) but not into more extreme hiking with ropes, climbing etc.

We had ruled out Switzerland before due to fear of the cost but will be self-catering and only going for a few days, so maybe it is doable...
I would also love to visit Austria but it is too far from Geneva for this trip I think.
Which would you recommend please?

These are all brilliant ideas. There's so much choice of amazing places. We're going to look at it properly this weekend. Thank you everyone. I'm glad to report that DP is fully on board with going to Switzerland which has made me very happy!

@Sailingby that's such a shame about blatten. Those poor people. I have read somewhere that the area is not due to re-open to visitors until next spring...

Hopefully not too late to this one!

I visited Zermatt, Grindelwald & Bern in early June last year. Took the train from Geneva airport to Zermatt via Visp. It’s a lovely train journey with the train track hugging the lake all the way around. The scenery from Visp to Zermatt was stunning.

Zermatt was quite romantic as it’s a car free town, with views of the Matterhorn and the Vispa river running through. Nice places to eat & drink & good for people watching,

Grindelwald had a totally different vibe but was equally as good. It was a great base for Murren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken. Some good advice above so I won’t repeat any of that. But highly recommend. Plenty of activities like mountain coasters, zip lines, trottibikes etc.

I recommend downloading the SBB train app. It’s amazing! And also recommend booking first class train tickets if you can afford to. The standard class coaches got pretty busy, but first class was practically empty & more comfortable too. And do have a look at whether you would be better buying the Berber Oberland pass too. Final recommendation from me is to watch Aplins in the Alps on YouTube for some great advice before you go.

@Vanillalime that's great advice thank you! Sorry I have only just seen this.
In the end we have booked an apartment in wengen for most of the week, but will have 1 night in bern as we arrive quite late. I'm so excited! Thank you everyone for your recommendations 🙂
