Family friendly place in Italy recommendations

Hubby and I want to go to Italy but have no idea where is best for families. We want the pizza, pasta ice creams with a nice hotel and beach. I’m sure there are loads of places but they all seem very adult led. We are so used to package holidays so bonus points for jet 2 packages. Any suggestions please?

It does massively depend - budget, time from airport, whether it absolutely has to be a package, whether you are happy to self cater for some of the time, whether you will hire a car etc, whether you want to see any sights (e.g. Verona etc.). Don't rule out Eurocamp (my experience is of Lake Garda - notably Butterfly Village) but there are plenty near Venice also. Pools are designed with kids in mind, and there is a kids club and family friendly restaurant and bar. The cheapest mobile homes are basic (although in some respect - child proof !). If you get one with aircon (necessary) and more facilities it would be better - also beware that you must get a linen pack (or take your own). There is a corridor of flight options (e.g. Venice, Treviso, Verona, Bergamo) if you hire a car. If not, more limited but the trains between Venice and Milan are usually pretty good, but really restrict where you can easily get to. Plenty of ubers, but not cheap. good luck with wherever you choose.

I’d like something with around a 30 minute transfer and half board so a package kind of resort

Jet2 type packages aren't really a thing in Italy.

Narrow it down a bit - when do you want to go? Where are you flying from? Any sites/cities you'd like to visit? Budget?

How old are your children? Because half board would be an incredible waste in Italy. It’s delicious food as far as the eye could see, and not really as good for the resort/half board thing.

If you like resort-based, easy, beach etc. don’t go to Italy. You could try Sardinia for nice beaches. But I’d rather get a self-catering near one of the lakes (preferably Garda) and hire a car, travel about, see a few things.

We stayed at Bella Italia in Lake Grada recently with a 3yr old, booked a package with Tui but it was self-catering. Loads of restaurants on site plus a 15min walk into the town with loads more restaurants. Supermarket on site but also Lidl close by. So many pools, perfect for kids with the slides & depth. Right on the lake & you can also get the ferry to other towns.

Try Lantana Resort in Pula, south Sardinia. It’s not too far from Cagliari airport and it’s within walking distance of shops, cafes and restaurants

Euro camp Bella Italian lake grada , pretty much perfect everything is on your door step

Lido di Jesolo. Def not half board, Italian food is so great for families

Thank you. Yes actually self catering would be best. I will take a look on TUI now i have the name of a couple of places. We just want the Italian experience - mostly eating pizza and experiencing Italy so nothing too specific really. I’d love to do the sites. We have a 10 and 12 year old

Another recommendation for Lake Garda. We stayed near Bardolino and it was perfect- I thought we'd miss the "beach" type holiday but there's so much to do and so much delicious food (eating out was cheaper than I expected).
We stayed bed & breakfast and it was about 30 mins to the resort from Verona airport.
Edited to add, we did a package with Jet2 for ease.

Tui Magic Life Calabria. Delphina.it has different places in Sardinia - Le Dune is the most family friendly. Self catering on Lake Garda - southern end of the lake - Desenzano and Peschiera are on the train line between Milan and Verona. Union Lido, Ca Savio or similar on Venetian riviera. Huge sites with lots of activities and pools, food choices etc - and purpose built accommodation beyond mobile homes.
