New Years Holiday vs Pre Christmas Holiday

Looking to book a week or so away on a Caribbean island. We can either go in mid December or go over New Years, flying a day or two after Boxing Day.

If we go Pre Christmas I feel we will miss out on all the fun build up to Christmas. We would be able to stay at a nice hotel as rates are cheaper.

If we go over New Years we would get the fun 'party' atmosphere as lots of people go away to celebrate/rest after Christmas. We have found a nice airbnb to stay in.

What do you think is better? The place we are thinking of going to is very quiet outside of a few peak dates like New Years and Easter.

New Year, as it is a long time between Christmas and Easter and even one week shorter in a sense can make a psychological difference.

We always go away for new year and I love it. You have Christmas at home and then go away for that boring, dark, cold bit until after new year.

May I ask where you go please ? I’m stuck for ideas

Have you considered a cruise? I’ve not been at Christmas but a lot of the Christmas and New Year ones are spoken of very highly. Most of the UK ships are in the Caribbean at that time.

New year definitely, everyone needs a pick me up in January.

New year definitely.

New year. We went to the Dominican republic one year on 27th December for a week. It was really nice to see the New year in overseas. Also was my 30th bday.

New Year. We went away before Christmas one year and all felt a bit flat for Christmas Day itself. Would have been much nicer to enjoy Christmas and the build up and have a holiday to look forward to afterwards
