We are going to the Isle of Wight soon!
husband working on the Friday (tagging along on work trip) so are there any recommendations for things to do that would be a whole day out for me and 4 and 2 year old?

also do you know of any nice child friendly places to eat? Or any places that do children eat free/£1 offers?

thanks

Osborne house is fantastic, do not buy food there though it is ££££££ for what it is. You can take a picnic.

The needles - bring a picnic here too - £10 for a jacket potato and butter.

where are you staying?

The pilot Inn, Dungeness has fantastic food, get there early if kids are little as you can’t book you have to wait).

Where abouts are you staying?

Our favourite days out with preschoolers are Tapnell Farm Park, Robin Hill and Wildheart Animal Sanctuary.

If you want a beach day, the best for toddlers is Ryde. It has two playgrounds on the Esplanade and a small funfair with a carousel, amusement arcade and other attractions called Peter Pan's.

The Fighting Cocks near Arreton has a playground and bouncy pillow. The Griffin in Godshill is unusual in having a maze as well as a small playground.

Does Robin Hill still have the toboggans? @Forgottenmyphone

Blackgang Chine, I went once as a four year old (have been twice since) and found it absolutely magical, I remembered it as a special place for years until I went back as a teenager (and also enjoyed it then, in case it sounds like I didn't, but more because of the nostalgia by that point!)

There's a Wildlife Sanctuary at Sandown. And a Butterfly World at Ryde.

Walk out to Culver Cliff from Sandown at a low tide. Check the tide timetable first.

Blackgang Chine is very good. Combine it with a drive afterwards along the Military Road.

The Butterfly World is rubbish, don't waste your money.

Carisbrooke Castle, Amazon World and Monkey Haven are all fab along with the suggestions above. Sandown Pier is great on a rainy day.

Have a look on The Price Is Wight website (yes, really!) as you can get cheap deals on days out and restaurants.

the fighting cocks is an amazing pub for children so so much to do in their garden.

cant wait to go back and do some more of the things people have suggested on here.
