Copenhagen - please could I have help with booking?

I am so rubbish at organising trips - everyone else seems to manage it; I find it so stressful! I

really want to go to Copenhagen, and have persuaded my partner - he's managed to get time off between 14th and 21st July. We'd be going from Newcastle and it looks like Norwegian Air flies Mondays and Fridays.
Has anyone booked a package? I would love any suggestions for either package deals or where to stay.

There's loads of places I'd like to visit - museums for viking art, Design museum, museum of illusion, Tivoli gardens, aquarium, and the city card looks good.

If anyone could help with suggestions or advice for packages or accommodation I would be so grateful - thank you!

Have a look at a hotel booking site like booking . com, I normally filter to where review score is 8+ (with at least 20/30 reviews), and see what it gives me. Sometimes I drop to 7+ if I can't find anything that works for me. Look for hotels near metro stations, so it's easy to get to museums and other sites, metro stations are marked on their map. You also want a hotel near restaurants, so you can get out and eat without having to travel. Look at the hotel location in Google maps and make sure it's near some places to eat, rather than in the middle of nowhere. It's very easy to do it yourself and don't forget to buy travel insurance.

I would book flights and hotel separately. Its a small city so any hotel in the centre will be in a good location.

Look at the Copenhagen Card which covers most attractions plus public transport. The trains/metro are very easy and efficient, 15 mins from the airport into the city centre, sont bother with a taxi.

Check Tivoli Gardens are open when you go.

Would recommend a harbour boat trip from Nyhavn, the Royal palaces, food markets, the round tower. Its a great city to wander round.

Thank you! Near metro station is a great idea. And I used to be really good at always getting travel insurance, but I'd forgotten about it completely - thank you for the reminder!

Thank you - I think I'd convinced myself that getting flights and accommodation separately would be a lot more expensive, but it seems like it will be a lot easier, especially with going from Newcastle. Those are all great ideas, thank you so much.

I've just realised that I didn't mean the Tivoli Gardens - though is it worth going to if you're not going for funfair rides?

Definitely book both flights and accommodation separately, you really don’t need a package.

Worth looking at the hotels in the Scandic chain - I have not stayed in their hotels in Copenhagen but I have always found them good value and reliable, and have really excellent buffet breakfasts included which in the expensive Scandinavian countries is a real bonus.

There are some very good city hostel options (with private rooms) if you are on a tighter budget - we are staying in the Next House hostel later this summer travelling with DC.

You don't really get "package deals" for city destinations, especially nowadays since there are so many places. Packages are really aimed at people who want to go somewhere without worrying that things are "a bit foreign", so as well as the accommodation you get a transfer and the services of a rep. I once saw a British family put off reporting a fairly substantial problem in their room until the rep came on her rounds because they "didn't want to speak to the receptionist in case she didn't understand English".

For a city break, separate flights and hotels are the way to go because you can move things up or down a day to get cheaper flights, and it's so easy to find hotels with Booking dot com, etc.

Three or four nights is a perfect length stay for Copenhagen. Go to the National Museum and make a little trip over to Sweden if you want to add a new country to your list. You can use your card absolutely everywhere (Wise or Monzo will be a bit cheaper than a high street bank card) — I normally feel bad being somewhere with zero cash but in both Denmark and Sweden everything is contactless these days.
