Eating in the restaurants Eiffel Tower

Has anyone booked a deal including stopping for food/drinks? I am going with my 2 children and we plan on walking up. I'm fairly fit, so ok with it, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. I want to book in advance and have heard mixed reviews from 2 years ago.

The food is guaranteed to be incredibly average and incredibly over priced.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/06/2025 18:39

Do not bother.

MaybeNotBob · 30/06/2025 17:35

The Jules Verne is very good, but a little bit on the pricey side...

Decorhate · 30/06/2025 17:47

I'd rather eat somewhere with a view of the Eiffel Tower than on it

Pebbles16 · 30/06/2025 17:54

Agree with above posters, eat elsewhere.

Ilovelowry · 30/06/2025 17:58

Walk three blocks away from the eiffel tower and you might find a good restaurant that doesn't cost a mortgage payment.

I’m a fan of eating up in tall buildings if it’s a good deal (ie includes entry to the viewing platform) but I haven’t tried the Eiffel Tower.
I did go on this dinner boat trip, which was fabulous and the trip was timed to see the tower twinkle. Do check recent reviews as it was 10 years ago (time flies!).

We went with my one year old to one of the restaurants. How old are your children? IIRC Jules Verne (which is the restaurant on the higher level) wasn't really suitable for young children and didn't have things like high chairs.

We went to Madame Brasserie. And we went up by the lift rather than climbed up. We had a pushchair with us so couldn't have gone the climbing route. Also I think if you have a booking at the restaurant, theres a separate queue for it at ground level and you go up via their queue and lift as opposed to climbing up the stairs.

I think if you're going to eat at one of these places you have to allow a little bit of the gimmick factor. The food I thought was lovely, they had a high chair for DD and a little kids pack. They also have a photographer that goes round taking photos of you which you can buy afterwards. We did it because it was out first trip away after having DD and it felt special for us. We had a window table during lunch and enjoyed our experience. I think we paid about €250 for the whole experience.

Ohmygodthepain · 30/06/2025 18:07

You can only walk up to the 2nd floor.

I suspect you'll need to book and as pp say I suspect the food will be decidedly ok

Just to add - you do need to book and it's very specific timed entry.

On that same floor of the Eiffel tower there are food kiosks and a casual sandwich type cafe place too for which you don't need bookings.

Lavendersong · 30/06/2025 18:28

Don’t bother walking up or eating there

The Eiffel Tower is set in lovely grounds which are a far better way to experience it from

Saljamber · 02/07/2025 16:29

Hey, thanks for this. The kids are 9 and 10. Will they still allow us to walk up even if we have a restaurant booking? I don't think the kids will appreciate Jules Restaurant, but Madame Brasserie, I think I'm going to book. Is it good to be up there at night or in the daytime? It is no doubt going to be warm, so an air-conditioned restaurant will be welcome.

This is very useful, thank you. Is the food area with kiosks AC'd?

The kiosks were just like little outdoors market stall type outlets with some outdoor seating area - we went in January and there were outdoor heaters, so maybe in the summer they may have fans.. it is outdoors though so I don't know.

There is also the cafe/canteen type set up - I imagine that would have air con.

clareykb · 02/07/2025 20:15

We walked up to the 2nd floor with 2 11 year old in May was worth it but you do need to book and bookings for walking open 2 weeks in advance. Food looked overpriced we went to a cafe nearby likenothers have said there were various kiosks etc round the base too

I'm not sure, I think you might be able to walk up. I would phone the restaurant and ask. I remember they were informative and also fluent in English.

We went at lunch because we didn't want to risk DD getting cranky over dinnertime. I think daytime might be nicer as you'll be able to see the view more clearly. I'm not sure how much there is to see or how lit up the view is at nighttime from the Eiffel Tower itself.

As an aside, the top of the Arc de triomphe was quite nice at night as you could see the Eiffel Tower all glittery from there

How long did it take you to walk up, please? If it's not that long, then we can just grab drinks, check out the view from level 1, and get to the top.

Maybe just over an hour up and down we stopped at the first floor for a look around and had a drink at the next one that we had brought with us
Then brief loo stop at the first floor on the way down though. It was a harder walk than I thought mins...I go to the gym 3 times a week and still felt it in my er glutes!
