First Eurocamp holiday suggestions

Hello! I'm looking at booking a eurocamp holiday for March, 2026 preferably 21st for 7 nights when DC will turn 2. I have never been but DH did go a few times as a child and I'd love to do this as a family. France featured heavily for him and I like the idea of going there for our first eurocamp but open to suggestions.
Any you'd recommend that's toddler friendly? Thanks xx

A lot of campsites don’t open until April but one of our favourites, Domaine Les Ormes, starts in February and most of the facilities are open then too. It’s not too far from the ferry ports and has a big Center Parcs style indoor tropical swimming complex with a paddling pool for toddlers.

Thank you for your reply. I hadn't considered there'd be dates they'd be closed. Had a quick read and it's the sort of thing I'm hoping for.

Duinrell is open all year I believe, although it’s Netherlands not France.
La Croix du Vieux Pont and La Vallee are good for kids, we’ve been a couple of times, last time 6 years ago. Both an easy drive from Calais/Dieppe.
We tend to go further south now usually late July/August as bound by school holidays.
Could you move your dates to April/May? You’d have more choice and better weather.
Also, get the best accommodation you can afford.

Will you be driving or flying? Makes a difference to which site to choose.

does your DC enjoy the water - find one with a great pool complex with plenty for toddlers. march would be chilly though, so maybe don’t base your choice on that alone.

lots have kids clubs, but generally not open in March.

most have a playground and other activities such as mini golf etc.

we always loved going to places that had a village or small town within walking distance. There’s a lovely one in Normandy where you can walk to a small town which is in a fabulous beach. Can’t recall its name - sorry!

I think your biggest factor is the March travel date. That will eliminate most parks.

I agree that you’d be wise to get the best accommodation you can afford.

March is too early for most of the holiday parks, plus you could have some shite weather. I’d be looking at a lodge / static with heating rather than canvas. Most I have been to you will need to walk back to your accommodation to change.

great holidays, kids love them but any chance you can shift that date? Will you drive and how long are you prepared to drive for on the French side? We ended buying on a Siblu site near La Rochelle, we got the drive down to a fine art. Leave our house at 4am, shuttle, get on the road and be at the van for 1700. No stops for food, took that with us and would stop for toilets but never at the services, queues are ridiculous. We stopped at Aires instead, ddog got a quick walk / toilet break too.

One rule of thumb I've heard a lot for France is that you'll get much more reliable summer sunshine if you head south of the Loire - which doesn't matter much if you're going in March but might help for future trips.

look at the various other companies too, there’s lots of choice these days. I’ve used Pierre et vacances a lot when mine were kids, also booked direct with campsites. There’s a brilliant place in Germany too, tropical style dome, but a bit more driving

Thanks so much for the advice and suggestions. I'm taking it all onboard.
Yes, I can move dates and would rather drive than fly. We are flying to Majorca in september and want to do a drive - type european holiday to compare and see which is least traumatising to do with a toddler 😀. La Rochelle is one of the places DH remembers fondly.
DC loves water! And playgrounds. Would 7 nights be too short if doing 3 hours drive to Portsmouth then ferry? Or should we break journey and spend a night in Portsmouth? If going in May, DC will be 26 months old.

If you want to break up the drive you could go overnight on the ferry. Even with a day sailing from Portsmouth most are 6/7 hours so you still get a decent break from driving. I don't think 7 days is too short with a 2 year old.

Duinrell looks amazing

We’ve only done one Eurocamp, Bella italia in lake Garda which we loved.

Thank you! You've all been very helpful ❤️
