Marseille/Prague/Wales with teenagers?

Just that really. I’m a single parent with 2 teenagers, want to take them on holiday but money is a bit tight. I’ve found a few holiday deals to choose from…
Wales Airbnb, walking up a mountain and other nature walks, some chill out time and meals out.
Marseille in a hotel, not everso central, not been before wondering how easy it is to get around/ how much there might be to do?
prague in a hotel, not been before so same questions as above really.
any info/advice appreciated. Thank you

My teens and tweens enjoyed Prague. We did a ghost tour, nighttime boat cruise, Lego museum, museum of senses, Illusions museum, the funicular up Petrin Hill and the mirror maze at the top, Lennon Wall, watched the street performers on Charles Bridge and Výtopna Railway Restaurant.

Marseille is nice and there’s a good train line so you can go to a lot of different places. My only hesitation would be whether your teens are girls? I felt there was a lot of street harassment and I felt really objectified when I wasn’t in the main streets, it made me feel quite unsafe and I’m pretty resilient. So they might feel less comfortable going out by themselves. The main city is fine though and the little towns etc that you can get to easily are lovely ☺️

Depends a bit on weather/time of year. I would avoid Marseille in July/August because I don’t like the oppressive heat in a city. Unless maybe you're in a hotel with air con and a pool etc but you said you're on a tight budget.
Prague is great with teens. Really pretty, lots to see and do, easy to get around (lovely trams).
I haven't walked up hills in Wales but that sounds great too. My teenager would object but your DC might be more outdoorsy and less moany 😂

Prague has a fairly compact city centre and a lot of what you'll want to see is in walking distance.

We did the Lego Museum, the Letna Lookout is lovely in the evenings, the Cathedral of Cyril and Methodius (it was the scene of a siege during WWII, the backstory is gripping). There was a street food market by the river when we visited too.

The TV tower was good and also, the old town and Charles Bridge is worth an early start to see before the crowds appear.

We also did a trip up to reservoir above Prague that had a beach and slightly ramshackle beach bars.

If you're on a budget then you can get open sandwiches and salads from supermarkets.

The only thing I didnt like about Prague was the endless stag dos/organised pub crawls. We didnt get any hassle but they are so noisy with shouting and whistles and there are so many.

The beaches on the train line east of Marseille are beautiful but it gets stupidly busy in high summer according to a waiter I asked when we stayed in Saint-Cyr-Sur-Mere.

Wales sounds fun so long as you don’t need guaranteed sun.

Thank you all for your great responses.
Looking for the summer holidays so now wondering if Marseille is off the table. We’re not mega fans of hot, or being harassed

Prague is lovely but not if it’s going to be too hot when you go, city breaks in the heat are never fun.

Marseille if you like the beach and as other have said it’s really good for taking train trips to places.

Whereabouts in Wales OP?

ThatNewYearFeeling · 28/06/2025 08:57

Near Pen y Fan for a mountain walk and waterfall walks

Try Malta

Lavendersong · 28/06/2025 08:58

Prague is the best one out of your choices

MinnieMountain · 28/06/2025 09:00

What do you all enjoy? I’d go to Wales in August because we don’t like it really hot (the south of France in May half term was perfect) but we do like walking.

I visited Marseille last week and it was boiling. Far too hot to walk around. We stayed in a campsite Lou Soulei, 30 mins from Marseille airport and you can get a train to Marseille city if you wish. We drove 30 mins from campsite to airport.
