Best travel insurance for DC with health condition?

My son who has just done his A-levels is going inter-railing around Europe for a month this summer. He was diagnosed with epilepsy following two seizures in 2023. Happily he is on medication which seems to be working, and he's had no further episodes in 20 months now...

To be on the safe side though, we want to take out travel insurance to cover him in the event anything happens while he's away. The best quote I've had so far is from Staysure - it seems a lot of insurance companies go through the roof with long-term health conditions in the mix, understandably.

I was wondering if anyone has had to navigate similar and has any recommendations for insurance companies? Thanks so much in advance x

We have recently got insurance with Free Spirit (P J Hayman). My daughter and I have pre-existing conditions, and we found them to be good value for money. I have no experience of how epilepsy might impact premiums, but they might be worth a try.

@Winglessvulture - thank you so much, I will check out!

Anyone else have any recommendations?

I always use LV and also have a relative with epilepsy who is also insured.

All Clear or Aviva.
I have a long list of pre-existing conditions and these two have been better than stay sure.

I’ve used AllClear before who have been excellent. Could be worth emailing Epilepsy Action too to ask if they have any recommendations

Make sure he has the GHIC as well. You shouldn't rely on it solely but it does offer some protection against extreme medical bills even if the insurance company proves obstructive.
