So we have a hotel booked in Colonia Sant jordi but have realised it probably isn’t ideal for us with a 6 year old.. and not a lot to do! Booked for 1st August and we can change it.

Need recommendations for b&b in Mallorca near nice beaches, a bit of history/places to visit nearby. Nice hotel with pools with some kids stuff/adult volleyball etc. Nothing too touristy but also not really quiet! We were looking at C’an Picafort or Cala D’Or.

help much appreciated!

Either Zafiro Mallorca in Can Picafort, or PortBlue Club Pollentia in Porto Pollensa. Both are B&B and have spacious family apartments.

I'd have a look at the Beverley Playa Hotel in Paguera. Its not too far away from Palma either.

Alcudia is brilliant for families if you’d consider somewhere like there/close to?

Honestly you will be fine in CSJ with a car (per your previous thread). The whole island is the size of Essex and you are only 30 minutes drive from Cala d'Or, beautiful fishing villages like Portocolom and Portopetro, and Santanyi which is an really interesting inland town, and some of the prettiest beaches in Majorca (Cala Figuera, Cala Mondrago, Cala Llombards).

Soller and the port town are beautiful. I can’t advise on accommodation, as I’ve only done day trips to both

Thank you! I wasn’t bothered then my DH was checking the hotel out again and was like oh god I think we have made a mistake! He has form for this as we changed our last two last minute!! I think I want to stick with it as the hotel looks so nice!

It sounds like you may be a satisficer and he may be a maximiser.

One of the problems with using the Internet for travel plans is that everywhere looks better than where you have chosen. But the good news is, whatever other hotel you have your eyes on, you will never know what it would have been like. And changing also has a cost of its own. Or, as Père Gaston Courtois wrote, "Vivre, c'est choisir, et choisir, c'est sacrifier quelque chose". (It may or may not be a good idea to drop that in front of DH before you leave. 😉)

Do 'maximisers' or 'satisficers' make better decisions?

There are two main types of decision-makers, experts say. Understanding which you are could help improve your choices.
