City break Feb/March

We are looking at a city break early next year and struggling to come to an agreement. So thought I'd trawl Mumsnet in case there's something we've missed considering. Somewhere with interesting history (we've been to Berlin and Krakow)/ good museums. Not too fussed about weather but not Scandi as we've done most of those cities and travel to Finland every year to see family. DH would love somewhere with really good food like Italy but as long as it's edible and not horrendously expensive it's a nice to have rather than a must have. I'm quite interested in one of the Baltic states/Poland or Germany.

Bilbao, interesting, good food, not very touristy.

We went to Valletta in February - lots of history and the bonus of mild weather.

Another vote here for San Sebastián, so many fantastic food opportunities and a really lovely small city on the coast.

Bordeaux or Valletta would be my suggestions.

Ljubljana or Dubrovnik

Thanks for all the suggestions. Have added a few to the list and this has made me realise how many places we've already been. We love road trips so we've done main summer trips such as Krakow to Vienna via the Tatra mountains and Bratislava or the main Andalusian cities.

Maastricht was a very happy surprise. Great book shop too

I think train rode plus whisky might have sold Edinburgh to DH! We are old enough for senior railcards to cut the cost.

If you are going to Edinburgh, there are multiple museums I loved there!

-Surgeons hall museums. I loved it because I work in a medical field. DH wanted to come along but didn't enjoy it as much!
-The art galleries
-National Museum of Scotland. Amazing! Absolutely loved it and spend nearly 2 days pottering around in there whilst DH was at a conference.

Several others I liked too. Enjoy.

Florence is gorgeous in Feb about 15 degrees, no real crowds easy to get into the museums and food well priced. Plus we took the train to Viareggio to see the Carnivale which is the second best in Italy after Venice.

How about Bilboa?
