Would you possibly be able to tell me what activities they enjoyed? I have active boys

canyoning
paragliding (the consent form for this was a bit of a tricky read for me but it was a fab experience)
summer toboggan (cover your elbows and knees)
wave machine pool (in Les Gets)
outdoor swimming
horse rides (possibly the scariest thing as the horse was v badly behaved)
white water rafting
plus a day trip to CERN
I have active girls!

Lots of mountain biking
Hiking
Aquariaz (or as we call it, avorihell)
Climbing
Via ferrata

Depends if your DC love physics, engineering IT or not tbh
Might be a bit more than a day trip now think about it- depends how you're getting to Morzine ... we had a day or two in Geneva

SummerLightning · 19/06/2025 13:47

We drove down and went to CERN on the way, it was a bit annoying as you can't book any of the guided tours or activities in advance and we failed to get on any on the day

Untery · 19/06/2025 13:59

Ah now I should have said plan does not include car. But Morzine is fairly manageable without I think?

It’s a drive to the white water rafting but there might be a bus or they’ll shuttle you there. Goat village is fun too, think you can cable car from Avoriaz. Get a summer pass, hopefully you can do this via the accommodation.

Forgottenmyphone · 19/06/2025 14:28

This was a highlight for my family https://www.alpineelements.co.uk/activity-holidays/activities/wi-bit-aquatic-park-les-gets

Untery · 19/06/2025 14:38

Oh they do love a wibit! Do you think we could get there by public transport?

I see there are lots of mountain bike routes in les gets which the kids would love. But we wouldnt have our own bikes so would probably have to hire. Do you think this is something people do?

There are busses from morzine to les gets. Am
sure you can hire mountain bikes. They are heavily investing in the summer as the winters are now less reliable.

labradorservant · 19/06/2025 15:06

Some of the mountain bike routes are fast ones with pros on them. I assumed I’d be able to pootle down but I didn’t dare try once I saw the speed.

labradorservant · 19/06/2025 15:08

There is also a go ape on speed type place near Nyon chairlift. Also worth a trip to the top as there is a viewing platform.

Untery · 19/06/2025 15:12

Ah ok. These are good tips. Go ape sounds good. I would be a bit worried about mountain biking to be honest - especially if I need to join in. Unless there are beginner trails

This is the best way to enjoy Morzine 😂

There are beginner mountain bike trails, and you can hire bikes. Stay away from Chatel (you probably wouldn't make it there anyway) as the trails were harder. It's all graded like ski runs so start on greens and then progress to blues.
The via ferrata up by Avoriaz was apparently very fun. I didn't do it as I had to stay with the dog!! We have our own via ferrata Gear but you can probably hire gear or get a guide.

minipie · 19/06/2025 17:34

Ok so we went last summer with 11 and 9 yo. Too young for canyoning, via ferrata or downhill mountain biking (IMO anyway!). We did hire e bikes and do some flat routes.

MTBs and e bikes are readily available to hire. Also helmets, body armour etc. I believe you can get MTB lessons too, might need to sort these ahead if you want them

We also did:

Rafting - some operators will provide minibus there

Parapente - likewise

High ropes & zipwires across Nyon waterfall - think you can get bus there or it’s a walk

Take a ski lift up and do walks from there. So walk is mostly downhill. Walking routes available from Office du Tourisme. There’s a good lift and walk route to Les Gets, another to Avoriaz. Can use buses to get back to Morzine

Some good restaurants for lunch up the mountain, need to plan around it tho as they are only open strict lunch hours!

Goat village & walk to waterfall, not sure how easy this is without a car. Good restaurants at goat village

Big pool in central Morzine - has a slide but it’s quite slow/tame

Swim in lake Montriond. Beautiful. SUP and kayak also available

Mini golf. One by Montriond, one in Avoriaz

Ice skating - good for a rainy day

Wednesday local food market 😋

Toboggan run in Les Gets - the Morzine one is not attached to the rails and lots of stories about people losing skin on it

Wibit in Les Gets

Various free activities put on by Morzine in the town square - live music, giant board games, craft market etc

Side trips to Annecy and Lake Geneva - def need a car for this though

Tennis - we never quite managed but there are courts available to hire

A lot of stuff is free or cheap if you have the Multipass, €3 per day through your accommodation if they have signed up. So for example the pool is included, ski lifts included, mini golf included, tennis courts included or cheap and ice rink you just pay for boot hire.

There is a good bus network in the summer linking Les Gets, Montriond, Avoriaz, Morzine etc. You can get to goat village on gondola then chair lift to Avoriaz, lift/walk back. Avoriaz probably looks much better in winter!

We thought we'd MTB but hiring bikes and all the other bits plus chair lift passes was a bit too expensive for us.

Lac Montriond was beautiful and has kayaks & paddleboards for hire at one end of the lake. But go and book in as soon as you arrive. A cafe/restaurant at each end of lake.

We enjoyed a good meal at an Italian in Morzine, can’t recall name but well known and traditional style and burgers at Haka (sp?) in Morzine and a place toward the end of the strip in Les Gets.

Enjoyed the toboggan in Les Gets and wi-bit in Les Gets. There was a heatwave when we were there and the lake at Les Gets then closed due to poor water visibility which was disappointing. Montriond lake was also muddy but that may have been the weather too, some good walking trails around lac Montriond.

Zip wire in Chatel was great fun and we booked a via Ferrata in Sixt Fer a Chevel through a company in Les Gets (shop was on a corner, family business) which ferried you there. Unfortunately it was cancelled so can’t comment on experience.

Plenty of paragliding type places and other adventure sports in Morzine.

We had teenagers too and would go back but we did have a car.

Smallinthesmoke · 19/06/2025 23:14

We did it all without a car, including transfers from Annecy and to Geneva. Think we had taxis iirc.
Fab holiday.
