Ferry vs Le Tunnel

Thinking of a France Eurocamp trip with a 2 year old in September. Going to self drive so we can pack all of our stuff however we are Bristol based so a bit of a trek over to the Euro Tunnel however its super fast right?

Its over an hour faster to one of the big ferry ports (Southhamption/Portsmoth/Plymoth) and they will drop us off further along the coast vs Callais.

What would you do?

I have no issue with driving in Europe just the having to stop every few hours..... Kinda think im talking myself into Ferry and get a basic cabin and chill but feel free to pop in with your input/any issues I may need to consider.

Thanks!!!!!

I'd probably take the ferry, it's more of an adventure and if you can cut out a few hours of driving that is a big win. Once you are on the ferry you already feel as though you are on holiday in a way that you do not with the Shuttle which is quick and functional.

France and Eurocamp is a great holiday choice with small kids - hope you will have a lovely time.

Ferry for me, largely because of the crap journey on this side, rather than the French bit which is a doddle.

We’ve done the Portsmouth- St Malo ferry lots of times. We love it, the holiday starts at Pizza Hut in port solent where we stop for food and fuel before boarding!
Lots going on for children and relaxing for parents.

Would absolutely not swap that for a longer drive and the tunnel… Last year we flew somewhere else and I really missed the ferry!

Thanks that was exactly what I was thinking! Cant wait to get away for a week and drink a responsible amount of vino!

Thanks everyone for the replies! Going to book something tomorrow :D

Hanging around on a Ferry seems much more enjoyable than driving the extra distance across England/France.
