Is there such a thing as a travel duvet?!

Hi so we are heading off to a eurocamp type resort in Italy, we stay in an air conditioned mobile home, the only bed linen they provide is either thin cotton sheets or a prickly woolly blanket! This is our 4th time going and sleeping is the only issue while we are there! We all find the sheets are far too light and the blanket is not comfortable. We would all love a light duvet with a little bit of weight that can be packed smallish in suitcases! We are going for 2 weeks and sleep declines as the holiday goes on. Don’t know about you lot but I like a bit of ‘weight’, can’t sleep under a sheet!! Thanks

What about a sleeping bag that opens right out into a blanket shape?

I think you are going to struggle with this. You are packing for a flight so need to keep the weight down. That said, I just bought my son a 4.5tog duvet from Amazon. Lovely quality, ultra thin and could be just what you want.

Why not pack duvet covers and put the prickly blankets inside them? I have done thus in the past. Works well.

Thin duvet and vacuum pack it?

Elpheba · 17/06/2025 14:29

Brand new light tog (4.5) duvets might work, assuming you’re taking hold luggage, as they’re packed really tightly in original packaging and you could leave them there?

Juiceinacup · 17/06/2025 15:07

A weighted blanket to put over the sheet? There are plenty of those to chose from at different weights, should be less bulky than a duvet

hattie43 · 17/06/2025 15:10

I think I’d just buy cheap light duvets over there . Packing them in a flight bag is difficult if you plan on taking clothes

I have used a fuzzy blanket/throw in the past. they pack down really small and you can even get roll up vacuum style bags that don't actually need a vacuum

You know the blanket goes over the sheet right? So you sleep under the sheet, with the blanket on top for warmth and weight - but the sheet stops the prickly wool from having contact with your skin.

But if you want to take a duvet, what about this kind of camping duvet?

Or just buy super light weight normal duvets and squish them into a sleeping bag stuff sack for ease of packing.

The OP said “ they provide EITHER, thin sheets OR prickly blanket’ not both.

That’s a good idea @BackToFront78

BugBugTheTornado · 17/06/2025 17:29

If they provide sheets OR blankets, surely just pack a sheet each to use alongside the prickly blanket, rather than a fat old duvet?

TourangaLeila · 17/06/2025 17:33

It would be cheaper to buy/pack bedding in a box and send it via airmail to your accomodation for your stay than try to buy and pack in your luggage for a flight.

M&S do 1-tog duvets which are great in summer and pack down very nicely.

When we're travelling in the UK we take our duvet and a cover as hotels and B&Bs seem to use the same weight duvet all the year round.

If we're flying and weight is relevant, we just take the duvet and use the hotel's cover.
