Hi!
We're a 'last minute' kinda family - well travelled, and happy to rough it. And, I'm thinking about booking a 10 - 12 day trip to Georgia late July. We're two adults and a 15 year old girl - who doesn't mind a bit of adventure. Has anyone got any tips? Is 10 days enough? We like rural experiences, different cultures, getting off the beaten track. Is it 'too hot' in July? (We're fairly good with heat though - last year we spent three weeks in Sri Lanka in July. And only booked that two weeks before we flew!) I'd love to hear experiences of other Georgia holidays!

@izzy2076 I'm in Albania :)

just booked to go May half term next year, great reading what others did and enjoyed.
Anyone got any hotels in Tblisi they would recommend Qarvasala Hotel already in the short list.

I’m here now and it’s been amazing. Absolutely stunning and so interesting. I’ve not been anywhere like here before. I’m currently in Kazbegi. It’s like Nepal (in terms of scenery) and the Soviet Union have made a baby but at the same time, unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been. So safe for solo females. People really leave you alone. I like the fact they are quite stand offish. It’s so refreshing. Nothing processed has passed my lips the whole week. The meat, the fruit and the vegetables all seem to be from people’s back gardens.

I stayed at the Zemeli hotel - it's not central but it was perfectly adequate

Are you still going in May half term? We're not sure whether to do May half term or the summer. Weather looks like it might not be the best in May but maybe too hot end of July? Are you going with children?x

Are you still going? Did you find any more information on reasons for or against? I'd love to know and share knowledge x

Go!

Can I ask where you took these photos? I'm thinking of going this summer, but beyond Tbilisi have little idea of where I'd like to go and see. This looks so beautiful.

Ive commented a couple of times but Georgia is one of my favourite places ever.
Use Get Your Guide to have day trips or local town walks. Really good value and fun.

Ananuri fortress
Qazbegi
Vardzia (you need a head for heights - which I don't have. There may have been some close to tears moments)

Hi ! I'm coming back to this thread - because, again, we're considering a last minute holiday to Georgia. Travelling late July /August. Family of 4, two older teenagers. I know it will be hot, but would really like a bit of encouragement/guidance? Could you tell me your itinery? How did you get about. Any other tips for a summer holiday? We've got 2 weeks, Thanks!

Go!

Hi Mrs Hamlet! We're still thinking about going to Georgia! What time of year were you there? Any tips for coping with the heat? What was your itinery/route! Many thanks!

Why on earth would anyone go somewhere like that?!? I follow someone who walked the entire breadth of Georgia (along with other countries) and it was hell! Rubbish piled high at the side of the roads, millions of stray dogs starving everywhere or laid deceased with people stepping over them. Absolutely horrific. Seems to me that visiting countries like that, is like a form of poverty porn. Just weird.

Rituelec · 07/06/2026 21:00

Yes, I would.

You do you. But my experience of Georgia was NOTHING like that.

@daystartswithcoffee I love the heat so it wasn't a problem. But early mornings, plenty of water, comfy shoes, high high factor sunscreen - I was in the Gobi desert in August a couple of years ago and survived that too.

I travelled with this company and they were brilliant https://araratour.com/package/armenia-georgia-azerbaijan-tour-17-days
Worth a look at that for routes

izzy2076 · 08/06/2026 06:34

I went last August and it was really hot in tblisi. 37/38 degrees. It’s a very dry heat though. I went straight to Kazbegi in the mountains where it was much cooler.
