August holiday with temp around 25 degrees

Hi, I'm looking at a holiday in August for around 5 nights for me, DH and DS who will be 4. He starts school in September and the childminder is off for 2 weeks in August, so trying to see if we can go away.

Ideally I'd like somewhere around 25 degrees, so it's not too hot. Anywhere with a beach nearby and some other activities to keep the 4 year old entertained (zoos, trains, playgrounds etc).

Thanks so much!

Are you wanting to go abroad?
difficult to find beach destination that’s 25degc in august as most will be hotter.
maybe duinrell in The Netherlands? Or Isle of Wight?

We have had a perfect and cheap beach holiday in the Netherlands and northern France. Weather isn’t guaranteed though - like UK. In the Netherlands it can get quite windy but the beaches can be vast, clean and almost empty. We have done a couple of the Centerparcs and found them okay - as long as your expectations aren’t too high they are lovely. Never made it to Duinrell but MN seems to love it!

We also loved staying in a caravan at Beekse Bergen in Netherlands - it’s inland but has a Safari park you can enter for free and a “play island” with lots of free activities and a lake with a sandy shore. We tacked on a few days at Efteling theme park which was really good fun. And on another trip Plopsaland in Belgium and Ghent were really excellent (the theme park; give the water park a miss) tacking those on to a beach holiday is a good way to pass time if you have a cooler or damp day.

Another option could be Jersey or Guernsey - absolutely beautiful beaches (remember a gorgeous walk on a beach at sunset, we stuck around to see the flow worms in the dunes when it got dark) and heaps to do there (lovely zoo, rocky beach walks to clamber on, etc).

Domaine des Ormes near St Malo- there’s a
chateau nearby with a zoo and lots to do in the area.

Netherlands, Northern Germany - can get hot but it's like the UK, unpredictable.
Belgium.
Alsace/German border - no beach but Germany has plenty of public lidos.

I lived in Brittany (south coast) for over 10 years and 25° in August is absolutely not guaranteed.

We stayed in the Black Forest in August when DS was 6. We got free entry into the Village Outdoor Pool with our tourist cards (I think we maybe had to pay a tourist tax, can’t remember). It was a nice holiday with a young child, every little village we went to had a little playground and we Visited a nature park (small animals) and Funny World.

As others have said though, a beach holiday somewhere where it won’t be too hot won’t guarantee you 25 degrees and sunshine, there is a much higher chance of lower temperatures and/ or rain than somewhere further south.

Another option for you could be a few days at a Haven park in the UK during August and then going somewhere like Spain or the canaries in October half term or Easter.

We’ve had that sort of weather in Norfolk, Netherlands, Brittany, Northumberland and Denmark in August but it’s totally not guaranteed

Go further south and you risk being stuck in a 40+ plus heatwave

Dutch or Belgian coast could be good. Huge sandy beaches and lots to do for Kids. As pp mentioned - Duinrell or Efteling or Plopsaland to visit. Hire go-karts for the prom.
