Seville 23rd-26th June

Hello,

I am meant to be travelling to Seville, Spain, from 23rd to 26th June, however am now very worried that it is going to be too hot. Does anyone know if this might be the case or if it could be doable? I have looked at BBC weather for this week and it is already 35-37 degrees!

thanks

We went in September and it was roasting. But extreme heat doesn’t bother me. Just dress appropriately (and stay somewhere with a rooftop pool).

“I am meant to be”

Does that mean you’re not obliged to? Ie not already paid for it?

I honestly would reschedule if possible

Seville is the most wonderful place on earth. You won’t enjoy it

Yes, I have booked flights and hotel. However, the hotel has free cancellation for another 16 days, and I think I can move my Ryanair flights to another date (although there could be a small charge).

Worth it

reschedule for October or April / May

We went in July last year and loved it, even though it was roasting. We learnt to keep to Spanish timings, and we had a private rooftop plunge pool, which really helped in the scorching afternoons.

Oh that’s so weird - the only time I’ve been to Seville was almost exactly those dates.

Honestly, forget the moaners, you’ll be fine.

The city of Seville has been brilliantly innovative and all the streets with the tapas bars etc have a light mist spray descending on you as you sit / walk by, which helps to keep you cool.

Plus you need to live Spanish hours - get up in the morning, do all the tourist stuff you want to do before it gets too hot, then go for a longish siesta after lunch. Dinner time is way later there than in the UK, so by that time it’s nice and cool again - you wouldn’t want to eat earlier as there’s no atmosphere then.

When we went, we also visited an amazing “ancient baths” place that, whilst warm water and indoor, was absolutely amazing

There’s one in London too now but there wasn’t at the time!

Just a few steps from the cathedral, in a Mudéjar-style palace is the location of AIRE in Seville. Enjoy the tradition of ancient thermal baths and massages

I wouldn’t bother tbh - it was lovely when we went in June

I'm going in October. Hopefully, it will have cooled down by then!

We went in May a few years ago. Summer arrived early and it was hotter than we'd ever experienced in dozens of trips to Andalusia, even the time in August when the glue holding our books together melted.

I think the highest temperature sign we saw was 46 C Shock

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 04/06/2025 22:08

It was lovely when we visited in February a couple of years ago! 23 degrees was perfect for sightseeing, although obviously would be a bit chilly if you wanted to sit outside in the evening (we didn’t).

Clickjaw · 05/06/2025 06:32

What have you decided to do op?

This. I went in spring 2023 and it was >30 degrees every day. Stayed in a hotel with a rooftop pool and spent quite a lot of time there, which was fine as I had been before. Don’t feel you have to do lots of exploring when it’s too hot - just change it into a ‘relaxing’ holiday and go back another time for the city break experience.

Bjorkdidit · 06/06/2025 04:51

Also, like a PP says, adjust your hours.

Sightsee in the morning, have lunch in the shade, lots of restaurants have covered areas and water misters.

Have a proper siesta, use the pool in the early evening and go out for dinner when the locals do so 10/11 pm. Very young DC can sleep in a pushchair if needed.

If you expect to keep UK hours, don't go when it's likely to be too hot to sightsee properly as it's likely to spoil the experience.

We got back from there on Monday, purposely booked end of May so that it wasn’t too hot then it turned out to be 38/39 every day! We still had a wonderful time and absolutely loved the city. Tried to do most of our exploring in the day time before 2ish then used the rooftop pool/cool rooms in the afternoon. Hottest time of day was 4-6pm it was still roasting out at 8pm so we ate inside each restaurant with fans and aircon then sat outside for drinks etc from 10pm, hope you have a wonderful time!

ginislife · 06/06/2025 06:15

I was going to start my own thread on Seville to ask where’s good to stay ? Going in October, flights are booked to Faro and then we’ll catch the train. Ideally we’d like a rooftop pool & bar and easy access to the main parts of the city. Thanks

The jump to June can be very substantial

that 37/38 reads more like 43/44

hence you “purposefully” in May!

We stayed in Fernando III hotel, rooftop pool and great location. Really liked it!

We stayed at the Welldone Metropol right by the Setas. Only the "Penthouse" room has the rooftop pool though. We liked it as it was private use of the small rooftop plunge pool. It's not as fancy or expensive as the name "penthouse" suggests, but the location was fabulous and the room very nice with a little kitchenette and a lovely bathroom.

Thanks everyone for the advice, going to reschedule for October. Unfortunately, I'm not cut out for this kind of heat. :-/

We went one New Year and we out and about in t shirts. I wouldn’t go in June!
One of my favourite places ever though.

We went last June and it wasn’t hot! It rained 3 out of the 4 days and I had to but two brollies. Didn’t use the hotel pool but it is a beautiful city

ginislife · 07/06/2025 12:52

@Ringonrighthandid looked at that one yesterday but no availability on 3-7 Oct, only 4-8 ! Looks lovely.
@kitchenplansthank you. I’ll have a look at it

We went a couple of years ago in April and stayed here:

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Once you get beyond reception it's like this whole village set around various courtyards. You can spend ages just exploring the hotel.

There was also plenty of good places to eat in that area.
