Copenhagen solo! Your tips please

Finally booked my first properly solo break, 2 nights in Copenhagen in a couple of weeks. So excited! I've come out of a long marriage and a hideous year of dealing with the fallout, so I flipping deserve it! At 51, it's about time too.

Would love tips on what to do when I am there. I visited about 6 years ago but had a broken foot so didn't walk much so feel like there is lots I didn't see. Up for lots of walking this time, galleries, bakeries, stylish shops, using the three phrases I have learned from years of Danish drama watching - and anything else that I can squeeze in.

Staying close to the main station in a nice hotel and seeing a friend one of the nights. Otherwise free as a bird - any recommendations?

OK I'm back, had a really lovely, chilled trip. First day I went to Hart Bageri (lots of branches around town) for incredible pastry and coffee, then shopping in the streets around Stroget (HAY, Illum, etc) and Vesterbro and bought trinkets. Friday night met a friend and drank supermarket wine by the canal to watch the sunset, which everyone seemed to be doing!

Saturday did a very spontaneous trip out to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, it was a beautiful sunny morning and I was staying right beside the station so though why not - joy of solo travel! So glad I did it, it was gorgeous.

Saturday night, went to Gaza Grill for Middle Eastern mezze (Meatpacking District) because I wanted something very casual, communal tables etc. Really good food and very buzzy vibe.

Then finished on Sunday with a walk around the Torvehallerne food market (porridge at Grod was delicious), walked around the Botanical Gardens with a coffee, more trinket shopping then airport!

I stayed at the Grand Joanne hotel, which was in a great location next to the main station. Not the prettiest area but meant that hopping on and off public transport was a breeze. Was also a 10 min walk from the Meatpacking District which was an easy place to eat solo.

Really enjoyed it as a first solo trip, very easy city to navigate, friendly and lots of opportunities for a leisurely potter!

@abreakplease glad you enjoyed it - My favourite Chinese in Copenhagen is in meatpacking district too - very funky area- Copenhagen is a really good solo trip I think or short break as it’s all quite compact and a great metro

Does anyone have any hotel recommendations for Copenhagen, or places to avoid? I'm trying to book very last minute for next week - very grateful for any suggestions!

@StellaAndCrow
I was really happy with my stay at CityHub pod hostel. The individual pods are compact, but you get a (really comfortable) double bed and they’re soundproofed. I was surprised how well I slept; other travellers were all considerate re noise levels in communal areas. I am early 50s + definitely wasn’t the oldest there! Bathrooms are single-sex + communal, and there’s a great little mixed sauna. Friendly staff. Walking distance from metro + main train station. Worth a look!
