Hi
We are staying at eurocamp at zell am see in Austria this summer and would like some tips please. There is 2 adults 8yr old and 4 yr old.
Is it easy to get to the town from the campsite to go for meals? Taxi or buses? What would the temperature be like at end if August? Any suggestions on activities to do whilst there with 2 young children? We like to do walking and site seeing and swimming. What's the best supermarket to go to? (I'm vegetarian)
Does anyone know if eurocamp provide sommercard? Or where we can get one from? Also is it easy to get the bus from airport to zell am?

sorry alot of questions!

Thanks
Rakhee

Hi. Do we need swimshoes to swim in the lake? Thanks

Edited

Probably worth taking if you have them.

No

In the centre of Zell there is a branch of Billa supermarket, which was excellent for preprepped salads and sandwhiches and stuff for a quick lunch. A year later, i still copy one of them that had lentils and mango.

I was actually in Zell am See today, where it was 30 deg. and the grassy areas around the Thumersbach/SeeCamp side of the lake were full of people. I was too busy to take a photo - so here's one I made earlier (back in May) from the same location:

All taxis are on a meter - you don't need to negotiate a price. Perhaps call and ask the eurocamp reception for an approx. price - they may have a local firm that they recommend or have a deal with. Otherwise, the taxi rank is opposite the main railway station in Zell am See.

Hi. Thank you for every ones tips we are having a great time. We want to go up the cable to top of a mountain but done alot of research and can't decide between Schmittenhöhebahn
Or kitzsteinhorn. Just thinking for the kids as youngest is 4 years old. Wanting to see the views and the kids to enjoy. Which one would you guys recommend? Only want to do one.

@Roosty38hi definitely the Kitzsteinhorn out of the two, there’s snow at the top!

Roosty38 · 24/08/2025 11:55

@user1505456587 thank you. Can you just get cable to the first stop. Then decide if you want to go to right to the top
. I'm just not sure if the kids will enjoy the height or not. So would like to see what they like at the first stop then buy ticket for the top of kitzsteinhorn if they are OK.

you can come back down after the first lift, I can’t remember what was at the top of the first one, there might be a play area or that might be after the 2nd lift.

Roosty38 · 24/08/2025 12:25

Can you just buy a ticket when you get there or is it best /cheaper to book advanced?

We had the summer card so could go to the top for free, you’ll have to check their website for best prices

House4DS · 24/08/2025 13:57

@Roosty38 there's a little sledging area at the top!

Roosty38 · 26/08/2025 07:39
